Puberty Stinks, but Students Don’t Have To
Funded Jan 24, 2025Thank you so very, very much!! This project filled with deodorant and feminine products for my class will give them that little extra confidence as they all start to go through those awkwardly challenging changes during puberty. Something, so little and simple to share with them, will make all the difference. Worrying about the changes, being at school, or not being able to talk to an adult at home, will help reassure them that they are taken care of at school and by me. Hopefully, conversations can begin.
Donors Choose has continued to amaze me with all the love and support they have offered throughout my years of teaching. Without you, I wouldn't be able to support my students in the way I do. Some say I care, too, much. I say, we should all care even more!
Cheers to another successful project completed. You're the best for supporting all teachers and me, too!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Pires
Cushy Comfy Cushions
Funded Aug 27, 2024Thank you to everyone who supported my project. Unfortunately, my project materials were out of stock, so I only accepted the planner which I love. Polka dots, folders, and lots of space. So cute!!
Here's hoping the nearly $200.00 credit will be to be used for my next project... but I have a sad feeling it may be magically donated to Donors Choose. I'm so sorry if that is the case, but please be reassured that it will go to other teachers in desperate need, too. In all my years of working with Donors Choose, I've never ordered materials only to have all of them be out-of-stock by Amazon. Needless to say, my Cushy Cushions will have to wait, and the icky, sticky carpet will remain a little longer.
I appreciate my coworkers (past and present), friends, donors and anonymous ones, too. Without you, none of the magic would happen. Keep up the great work, and here's hoping my next project is a successful one. Much love and gratitude coming your way.”

Funded Feb 4, 2024A huge thank you for the huge rocks, more rock paint pens, and all the thank you cards I could ever need... this year. This is the second year now that I have done this project in honor and memory of an amazing teacher. Her love and kindness will never be forgotten.
Students are so excited to be able to create positive messages, beautifully color their own design, and share them with someone special. To see the amount of time and love that goes into each rock, along with the details and design, says it all. Some students searched for the exact quote that would represent their feelings and matched it with their art.
Thank you for helping me make a difference for my students. Every project funded is one that makes the year that much more special for my class and me.”

Back to the Basics
Funded Aug 14, 2023Thank you for all the folders each student received. Sometimes, it's the little things that can go a long way. Students all have what they need to stay organized for the year, and with your help, I have been able to share all the last-minute basic necessities with all students.
As for the lesson plan books for me, I love them! I had a personalized notebook gifted to me, so the lesson book matched it well. Big lesson boxes, a waterproof cover, and a built-in folder are a step up from my previous lesson planners.
The new read-aloud books are a great way to start the year. "A Letter From Your Teacher" helped them relax and get to know me better. Students are looking forward to reading "Life Skills", as so many think they're already in middle school.
Thank you, for continuing to support my class and me with all the little things that matter most. You make a difference in all students' school year, and without you, we would have far fewer materials and supplies needed. Your generosity and kindness towards teachers are the greatest supports we have.”

Funded Jan 31, 2023I can't express the joy it brought to my students when they were asked to complete a kindness rock. They felt like they were the "chosen ones" as they got to take a break from class and step into the hallway of creativity. They got to choose their own words and colors and share their messages on the rocks for those who would later find them.
Students then hid the rocks throughout the school, and students and teachers were able to find and keep them, or find and gift them to someone else. Such a fun way to teach my students that sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference. It was like an Easter Egg hunt for those who found them, while others thought it was their lucky day.
Thank you for helping us complete this project and for making the world a kinder place... one rock at a time.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Pires
Fabulous, Fierce, Fifth
Funded Aug 15, 2022Thank you!! Everything we received for this project will be used this year. Folders, squishies, birthday cards, and name tags. With the aftermath of lockdown, supplies have been a struggle for many students and parents. Every child will get a little extra something to help them out and brighten their days this year... it's the little things.
New read alouds and board games will be extra special, since we are still unable to have guest speakers on campus and go on field trips. Books and games will be a great way to bring students together and help them work on those social emotional skills they've been lacking over the past few years. Team work, imagination, and collaboration are some of the goals be will be working on throughout the year.
Donors, you have been there for my class and me for years now. Just when I think I have all I need, a new bunch of kids come through my door to remind me that each and every class deserves the best from me. Thank you, for making that possible.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Pires
Flexible Seating Helps Go With the Flow
Funded Apr 7, 2022Donors Choose has helped improve my class over the years, and this year is no different. Your donations have had the biggest impact in shaping my classroom. Students basic needs are being met with your help and donations.
We are so happy to have notebooks and pencil sharpeners for every student in my class. Something that is so basic and necessary in order to learn is one less thing on my summer shopping list. Thank you so much!!
As for the flexible seating yoga balls, it is truly one one the best things WE've done for my class. Sitting all day is challenging for anyone, let alone kids. These seats give students the freedom to rock, roll, and bounce while learning; not to mention, it improves their posture and helps strengthen their core. Where were these when we were kids?
It truly is your kindness and generosity that helps us teachers the most. Much love!”

Ms. Pires

Funded Feb 18, 2021Thank you so much for helping me fully fund this project. As we prepare to head back to in-person teaching soon, I feel better equipped to do so. The basic essentials are what is needed most... hand sanitizer, masks, shields, and paper towels. I have supplied our students with everything they have needed during this pandemic and upon return, my classroom and cupboards are bare. These basics will get us through the rest of this school year safely.
The massive supply of chalk art will be something we use outside during recess. With students needing their own personal everything and no longer being allowed to share supplies, every student will have their own chalk to beautify our school at recess. Playtime will be quite different so solo activities will be the new norm.
We, teachers, have so much appreciation for all the support and love you share and especially during this pandemic. We couldn't do it without you donors. Much love!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Pires
You've Got Mail!
Funded Sep 3, 2020Thank you so much the for the new lesson plan book, cards, and stamps. As we continue to distance learn, the lesson planner helps me organize my lessons, so I can share them with students using a digital calendar. So helpful for both of us to keep up with the constant changing schedules.
The stamps and cards have cute designs with polka-dotted envelopes... clearly made with love. Students are going to be so surprised when they receive a heart stamped piece of mail from me... with love. With all the struggles and challenges, many are finding it more and more difficult to be home for the seventh month in a row. My students email me and private chat what it's like for them at home. I hope my messages let them know they are cared for, they are doing a great job, and that their hard work isn't going unnoticed.
Thank you again for supporting teachers and me during the most challenging times we have ever experienced. Much love!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Pires
