Portable Sensory Gym!

Again I send you all a tremendous, "Thank you!" All of the students showed overwhelming excitement to be presented with the new equipment from your sponsorship. The scooters and therapy ball have led to a lot of laughter and joy. especially since the only times they get to move is during Physical Education 2 to 3 times a week. The yoga cards and Kore chair has challenged their strength and posture. I have noticed that many of my students have shown improved endurance and strength and can take on more challenging yoga poses. For example, one of my students could perform one sit up on the therapy ball without falling to one side. Now, he holds a plank with his lower legs on the therapy ball for at least ten seconds.

Also, the therapy ball, Kore stool, and Movin' sit cushion have provided great seating alternatives. A few of the teachers have noticed improvement with alternative seating in their classrooms. It is so cool to see, my students advocate for themselves and ask to sit on the Movin' sit cushion in class, which in turn helps to improve their attention.

Many of my students have expressed that our school is not the most affluent and acknowledged resources are not easily available. So, they were surprised and amazed that strangers who did not know them decided to help them. As corny it sounds, you, my friend have made a difference. The students of Oliver Wendell Holmes Intermediate School send you all positive vibes and love.”
