Many of my students entering third grade have very weak number sense. It is my goal to strengthen their conceptual understanding of numbers early on so that they can be successful in dealing with more complex mathematical challenges. For my students to achieve numeral fluency, plenty of meaningful practice through rich learning tasks are needed. This is our goal for our Math Centers/Stations. The materials I have selected from Lakeshore offer the engagement and rigor that my students need to have a dynamic practice in our classroom. It also addresses the need for differentiated activities since my students learn at varying levels and pace. These activities will encourage them to experience math through play and collaborative work.
