Reuse, Renew, and Protect Our Devices
Funded Aug 6, 2020Thank you is such a simple phrase, just two words, but holds a great deal of meaning. Without donors such as yourself, teachers often struggle to get the necessary materials or have to muddle through without.
Thankfully we will have a device up and running again for use this year!”

Funded Jul 17, 2017As always I appreciate the friends, family, and anonymous donors that help with our project requests. Even those who are unable to contribute financially who share the page in order to spread the word help in their own way. I was pleasantly surprised to see this finally funded right before the time ended by a former classmate and homeroom buddy of mine. I can't thank you enough. It takes a village to raise a child, thank goodness there are people that understand and value that sentiment.”

Technology Infuses Reading and Writing Skills
Funded Dec 30, 2016Again I am moved by the support of friends, family, and people that some may refer to as strangers. The old saying it takes a village to raise a child is definitely as relevant today as when it was first uttered, maybe more so. With the needs of our children growing larger, the demands put on these villages is ever increasing. Many of the needs of children that were once thought to be taken care of at home has now become the schools and teachers responsibility. In some areas such as ours these needs cannot always be met with school funding alone. Thank goodness with the use of technology the world is becoming smaller, or maybe it just has enabled our village to become larger.
The students are so excited to have access to four more kindles in the classroom. We now have a total of 12 and can almost have half the class reading on them while the other half is receiving instruction with me in a smaller group setting. Other ways the students use the tablet are for Internet research either independently, partnered, or with a small group, and to check their spelling and grammar usage when writing.
Again, thank you to all that believe in me, that all students deserve the best, and that paying it forward is the path to a brighter future for all of us.”

Building Literacy through Technology II
Funded Mar 29, 2016Thank you for your donation to help my class obtain even more Kindle Fire tablets for my students. These devices have truly changed my students lives, and we hope to obtain more soon so it can make even more of a difference. These devices have helped motivate my once struggling students since they are more motivated to participate, and learn. Those who had never used devices before, are slowly becoming more comfortable with technology. Also, struggling and/or shy students are now more motivated to complete daily activities, since they are no longer embarrassed to ask for help, but instead use the tablet to support their learning.
For many of my students, technology isn't present or is limited in the home. These tablets help expose them to another tool to utilize in the ever changing world of technology. In class I have witnessed students who would have never looked up words to clarify a meaning using the Kindle to do just that. These tablets are helping expand my students vocabulary as well as knowledge.
We are all so grateful for the generosity you have bestowed upon us. Literacy, reading and writing is so important to help my students grow. Technology is the wave of the future, we need to do everything we can to keep up with the changing times.
Thank you for being part of the change in our classroom”
