Washing Machine for Wonderful Students
Funded Sep 4, 2022Thank you so very much for your generosity to our school and students. By donating to our "Washing Machine for Wonderful Students," project, you helped revive vocational job functions and experiences our students could not have with a non-functioning machine and dryer. Our new machine allows us to meet instudents'students' needs and teach students the adult daily living skills associated with doing laundry. Students have been practicing laudnering towels and clothing items, as well as drying, folding, and sorting them.”

Funded Sep 21, 2022Thank you so much for all our outdoor gaming equipment for fun and development. Our students were excited to receive the Jumbo 4-to-Score Giant Game Set, Double Shot Basketball Arcade Indoor Basketball Hoop for Kids, Jumbo JR. Wooden Blocks Floor Game for Kids and Adults, Giant Checkers & Tic Tac Toe Game with Mat (4ft x 4ft ), Large Rings Toss Set, and Backyard Lawn Bowling Game.

The games delight all and foster interaction, fun, and development of our students' physical, coordination, social, and communication skills. Your generosity cannot be forgotten. You are with us every time our students engage with the games and each other.”

Funded Apr 21, 2022Our children and I thank you for your generous contributions to our Cash Register and Tools to Run our School Store project. We have been using the tools and equipment you graciously provided. Our financial awareness, literacy, and job skills are expanding daily as we work in the school store or operate the mobile cart.
We use the play money to work on our numeracy and currency skills. Students get familiar with money and money operations through role play buying and selling activities. Later, they are able to use these skills while working in the store and cart cashier centers.
Students have been most excited about the new cash register. The new register is an upgrade to the last one we had. Students use the register to code purchases by categories and love using the displays and receipts to further expand their math skills.”

Funded Mar 4, 2022Thank you for your contributions to our Cleaning Supplies for our School Community project. Students were excited to receive the products and delighted to unpack the boxes to discover what was inside. They undertook the special assignment to separate the clear face masks and individually package them in Ziplock bags and adhered to glove-wearing and other safety protocols while working.
Other students removed the containers of Lysol wipes, packed them in delivery carts, and distributed them door to door. Student managers also obtained signatures for receipt of the containers. We were not able to get the Lysol sprays described in the project. However, the clear face masks were such a hit among classroom staff and related service providers that we ordered additional packages of those and will package and distribute them as soon as they are delivered.
Your donations continue to help our school community and you have given additional, exciting learning opportunities to our children. From our hearts to yours, "Thank you!"”

Funded Dec 31, 2021Thank you very much for your generous contributions to our classroom project. Students were delighted to see the books and art supplies. One class had the special assignment of labeling all the books with the date and source, i.e., "Donors Choose," and helped set up our classroom library.
Students visit our vocational library any time they choose and discover jobs they might be interested in outside of what we currently offer within our program. They are also learning the importance of training and practice to improve their skills and are making significant progress.
Some classes have begun art projects and were excited to have supplies readily available. "Better than plain paper and crayons," they said. The photos show their first art project.”

Funded Sep 23, 2021This is the second project you have funded for my students. Thank you for helping us to SOAR to greater heights! We were overwhelmed by your generosity when we received word that our needs would be met. Since then, our classroom has been transformed. Daily vocational jobs are organized, visible, and can be switched at a moment's notice. Students' learning objectives are easily accessible. Students, assistant teachers, and anyone entering our classroom can easily see what is happening during the instructional session. The pocket charts rarely go missing, which is a time and procedural bonus when serving thirteen classes. The magnetic pockets house our job task analyses and the "SOAR" bucks students earn for following their individualized "SOAR" plans and completing their assigned jobs each period. The small display stands are used for special projects and systemizing new jobs being introduced.
All in all, you have given our children structure, increased accessibility to the tools and information needed, and significantly increased the flow of our instructional sessions. Your contributions impact us every period of every day. Thank you so very much!”

Funded Sep 18, 2021Thank you for funding our communication project. The devices provided have enriched learning experiences for our students. We greatly appreciate the generous donations received.
Students have been using the devices to ask and respond to questions and to communicate with peers and the larger school community in instructional learning and real-world situations.
The GoTalk4 has allowed students to communicate recycling pick-up schedules and reminders, engage in role-play practice activities, and real-world customer service and cashiering services within the school. Students developing their verbal skills have also used the Go Talk4 to rehearse their skills and then use their words to engage in necessary communication exchanges. Sheer delight reigns among our nonverbal students as they have been given a voice in vocational.
We use the communication buttons in our small and large groups for quick questions. Some are set up as "Yes/No" tools. Others fluctuate depending on the need, the topic being discussed, and students' response options.
Students in 13 different classes are making use of the communication tools.
I could never convey my students' delight sufficiently in words. To our donors: Just know you have made a difference.”

Dr. Patrovani
