Funded Aug 23, 2018• How are you and your students using the new resources? Share a specific classroom project or moment.
Our supplies have been such a help this year! The students have used the materials every single day from the beginning from the first day of school up until today as I write this. Students have gotten the most use out of the pencils, glue sticks, and rolling bins. I personally, have gotten the most use out of the laminate. It is bitter sweet to say that all 5 of those laminate packs have been used up since January. The biggest impact for the students is the rolling bins are used daily for the students' independent workstations. They store their supplies and put their completed workstation work inside the different compartments of the bins. This helps them learn how to be independent and organized.
• How did your students react when they first saw the materials?
My students loved that they got new supplies this year. It took some adjusting to use their rolling bins but once they learned how to use them, they love having their independence to do their work, and having the ability to keep themselves organized. Knowing that they have new markers, crayons, and construction paper made their day as well! They love to create art projects with the donated materials and have used all of the art supplies for various projects completed throughout the year.
• Your donors got a little peek into your classroom by contributing to your project, and we know that they'd love to learn more. What are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?
The next steps for my students will be to create different sea creatures to use to decorate the classroom with. They will use the crayons, construction paper, and markers to draw and create their own personal sea creature that they want to explore during our next unit, which is taking a trip. We are taking a trip under the sea. We will explore all there is about sea life and life under the sea.”
