  • "For Every Minute Spent Organizing, An Hour Is Earned."

    Funded Aug 16, 2024

On behalf of my middle school students,, I want to express our sincere gratitude for your generous support of my classroom organization project.

When using their bins and mailboxes, the students were incredibly excited and recognized how these simple tools could help them stay organized and on top of their schoolwork. We've been using the bins to store classroom supplies, making them easily accessible and reducing distractions. The mailboxes have become a central hub for distributing and collecting student work, promoting a sense of responsibility and ownership.

Students are using their newfound organizational skills to keep their notes, worksheets, and assignments neatly organized in their mailboxes. This has significantly improved their ability to review materials and prepare for assessments.

Your support has not only provided my students with essential organizational tools but has also empowered them to take ownership of their learning. Thank you again for your generosity and for making a positive impact on the lives of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pan

  • Everyone Needs Motivation!

    Funded Dec 3, 2023

The materials I was able to buy not only motivated my students to do better, but also showed them if they worked hard for something, they'll get results.

Our community is not one with a lot of resources and it's only through generous donations like yours that many of our students are able to have access two things other than the bare minimum.

I can only hope that other donors like yourself will continue this generosity so that my students will be able to experience many other options like the ones that your donation granted them.

Thank you again for your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pan

Your donations was such a huge success! (^_^)

Because our school is an "extended day" school, our scholars have a longer day than most students. We offer "elective" classes at the end of Tuesdays and Thursdays for scholars to explore activities outside academics that peaks their interest.

The scholar who choose the Lego elective knew exactly what they were doing when they first started the class. They worked together and not once looked at their phone or chromebooks. They were kids being kids. They troubleshooted and celebrated with each other. This elective provided the scholar with hands-on activity while catching each other up on how their day went. It is great way for them to finish the long day.

Thank you again for providing this opportunity for them! Some were so into it that they asked if they could take the lego pieces home, over February break, and continue to work on it with their friends.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pan

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Dec 20, 2016

On behalf of my scholars, I want to thank you for your generous contribution. My students were super excited to see the headphones when they arrived. They were even more exited to see it was one of the "foamy" head phones where they didn't have to use a clean wipe after every use. The students who had the privileged of opening the new headphones for the first time did so with care. They were thrilled to get something new and couldn't wait to put it into use.

The new headphones allowed me to plan more blended lessons where students are able to work on the skills they struggle with and for me to meet in small groups to address any previous math misconceptions. I can't tell you how quite the class was when they started their lessons on their Chromebooks. As the teacher, I was able to get the students started on the lesson quickly and efficiently because I didn't have to worry about the headsets being broken or missing. I hope to have students continue to use the headphones to help them improve their math skills by working on the program iReady.

Again, thank you so much for your generous contribution! They were taken back by the fact that strangers were giving them resources to use in their everyday learning. I had explained to them how DonorsChoose work and they were very grateful. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pan

  • Tools for Success!

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

First and foremost, thank you for your generous donations. My students are having an engaging and interactive year (so far) because of your donations. With our double-block (two 43 minutes classes) period, it can be challenging to have students focus and stay on task for that long. However, with the white boards, markers and big post-it pads, it was easier for me to plan interactive lessons and activities that allow students to move around and stay engaged.

When I first took out the "Smath" games, my students were first curious and then excited. I explained how I used DonorChoose to get theme these games for the class. They were very appreciative when they first heard this.

I'm glad they were able to play this game because it was an informal way of incorporating math into something I thought they already knew (the game of scrabble). However, I was a bit shocked when many of my students informed me that they didn't know how to play the traditional game of scrabble. But this didn't stop them. They read the direction and had a blast playing with one another.

We are currently working on the properties of adding and multiply rational numbers. We hope to continue working on this standard and eventually applying to everyday situations. Your contribution is a great help in this plan. Again, thank you for your generously!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pan

Although I'm a veteran teacher with more than a decade of teaching experience, this up coming school year will be a new experience for me. I will now be a 7th grade math teacher instead of a 6th grade math teacher. My teaching style will remain the same, but my approach to the concepts will have to be tweaked. Reason for the change: Due to declining health from both my mom and dad, I moved back home to help out. With the move, I was commuting an average of 3 to 3(1/2) hours a day. After three years of doing this, I made the difficult decision to change district. Which leads me to my new teaching position in Salem, MA. I will now be teaching 7th grade math instead of 6 grade. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time!
