I have struggled with borrowing or using old worn down materials for my small group instructions. These materials will help my students become more confident and engage more in the small group activities during math and reading time.
As a teacher, I always find myself without certain materials. An example would be, I will have dry erase markers but I never have enough dry erase boards when I am teaching in my small groups. Usually, the lack of funds is the reason behind why I am not fully prepared for the beginning of the school year. I use a lot of technology in my classroom, so headphones are always needed.
Last but not least, books on plays and fairy tales are very rare in intermediate grades. In order for me to teach certain skills such as Theme, I have to push my lessons back just so I can borrow these books from other grades and then sometimes it won't be enough for my class size. Having these materials will ease up the stress and keep my students engaged throughout the year!
