Learning Resources for a Successful School Year
Funded Sep 18, 2024A heart felt thank you for your generous contributions to our classroom! The laminating sheets have truly made a difference in making our math resources more durable and long-lasting. Now, students can use laminated materials, such as game boards and activity cards, during math time without worrying about wear and tear. The rolling cart has been a game-changer as well, allowing us to easily transport math manipulatives and games around the classroom. This mobility has made it more convenient to create hands-on learning opportunities in different areas of the room, keeping math time dynamic and engaging.
The plastic storage bins have also been incredibly helpful for organizing our classroom materials. Thanks to these bins, our math tools, phonics games, and other resources are neatly stored and easily accessible, fostering a sense of independence and responsibility in our young learners. Additionally, the pocket charts have been a fantastic way to display our phonics learning for each unit. We've loved adding words related to our current unit to the charts, creating a visual tool that reinforces vocabulary and phonics concepts. Your generosity has truly elevated our classroom environment, and we are so grateful for your support!”

A Classroom Printer for Engaging Lessons
Funded Oct 25, 2024A million thanks for your generous support in providing our classroom with a new printer! This resource has been a game-changer for our learning environment. With the ability to print colorful visuals, student-created projects resources, and personalized resources, I can now provide materials that make lessons more engaging and interactive. The printer has been instrumental in creating math games that help students build essential skills through hands-on practice. Additionally, it has allowed us to bring our science project on animals and their defenses to life. Students were thrilled to print vibrant animal picture cards, diagrams, and research booklets, which made their exploration of this topic even more exciting and meaningful. Having access to these high-quality printed resources has transformed how my students interact with and retain new concepts.
What excites my students the most is seeing their work and learning materials come to life in full color. Whether it's a beautifully designed math game, a science booklet, or an illustrated story, the ability to print and display their creations has boosted their pride and enthusiasm. Our English Language Learners, has especially benefited from this printer. They've been eager to use printed bilingual resources aThis printer has enriched every part of our classroom, and we are so grateful for your support in making this possible!”

Funded Dec 16, 2022We are all beyond grateful for the generous donations to make STEM Readers in Action successful. Thank you all for your kind hearts! Every Friday we dedicate a period to engage with STEM activities and the students look forward to it each week. Students are practicing their turn-taking skills as not everyone can play the STEM game at once. Students enjoy engaging with different STEM games and playing with their classmates. We use the reading book daily to reinforce reading skills and the student absolutely love it as well. Students love reading new books each day and use their decoding skills to decode unfamiliar words.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you all for the generous donations to a project that will reach a classroom full of artsy and creative students. Without your generosity, this would not be possible! The student's faces were full of excitement when they engaged with the art materials from this Donors Choose project. The art materials were used during the month of December and they created holiday picture frames! They took these holiday picture frames home and the parents absolutely loved them! We will continue to use these art materials to create other works of art throughout the school year.”

Funded Sep 21, 2022Woohoo! We have flexible seating in our first-grade ICT classroom. My students and I walked in today to a huge surprise. As soon as I received the packages, I took the flexible seats out of their package and displayed them on the rug and beside the rug. All of the students walked in and asked me "what is that, Ms. Palaguachi?" Of course, all of my students wanted the opportunity to sit on the flexible seats, however, I explained we need to take turns. Taking turns is a huge skill we are practicing in first grade every day.
Students that had a turn on the flexible seats today absolutely loved it. Students that are still waiting to get their turn on the flexible seat are anxious for their day to come. I've noticed that some students really needed this. Some students were engaged with their new seating option.
I want to thank each donor who donated and made this project a success! My students are discovering what their seating preferences are and using them to maximize their learning in the classroom.”

Funded Dec 28, 2021The new reading and math center games are very much appreciated in our first-grade classroom. The reading games are used during phonics instruction and during the instructional breakfast period. Students choose the classmates they want to play with during instructional breakfast, when they have finished eating their breakfast. The math games are used during the math period, student use the Addition and Subtraction Dominos to reinforce their addition and subtraction skills.
When the students saw the big boxes in the classroom, everyone asked me what was inside. I shared that we were gifted with reading and math games. Everyone said, "Oh, can I play?" Everyone looked through the games to see what they were all about. The first game we played was the Sight Word BINGO, the students loved it!
We have two math games we have yet to open and play with. The games are the Telling Time and the Shapes games. In the following week we will be learning to tell time and we will be learning about shapes and that is when we will open these learning games.”

Funded Feb 6, 2021When I first saw that people had given to my project, I was overwhelmed with joy and I pictured my students jumping up and down of happiness when they were to see the puppets. One of the projects we worked on in my classroom was acting out our favorite stories. My students used the puppets from the Three Little Pigs to act out the story and they all had so much fun! Everyone was anxious to be part of the play, even my shy students were anxious to hold a part of the play. Presently, we just finished writing our own class story titled, The Big Bad Wolf and Dog. This story is about a big bad wolf and dog who are at a forest and very hungry. The big bad wolf and dog came across some farm animals and decided to go after them to eat them. The farm animals ran to a farmer's house nearby where Leo the farmer decided to scare the big bad wolf and dog away. They have acted their story so many times and they never get tired of it.
The day the boxes arrived; my students felt excited and their eyes couldn't believe it. They all wanted to grab and hug the puppets. They all asked me, "can we pretend we're the characters from the book The Three Little Pigs and The Little Red Hen?" We used the puppets the day they arrived.
Next school year, I'm excited to see my students use the puppets during story time. Now more than ever will students who were in remote learning settings need to further reinforce their oral language skills. I plan to continue to encourage my students to be creative and work as a team to create new stories. I also plan on using the puppets to support my students social and emotionally. To be more specific, during independent reading times, I plan on encouraging my students to read to a puppet.”
