  • Diving into Learning

    Thank you so much for providing the resources that my students needed to make this one productive year. In having these supplies, my students are able to complete assignments without having to worry if they will have enough for the next few months. Further, in having these resources, my students are able to work independently without missing a beat because everything they need is within their reach. This year school has been filled with math problems, poetry presentations, literary essays, and more and it is because of the resources that you have provided to allow them the opportunity to dive into learning without worries.

Further in having these games, a few of my students who often elected to spend free time by themselves, have now come out of their shell and has begun to choose to interact with others all on their own. Over the course of the last few months, I am so proud of all of my students who have used this as a chance to develop their communication skills. These games are more than just games for my students, it is a device to get them to feel comfortable within the classroom that may sometimes be overwhelming due to academics.   • Reading for Clarity

    On behalf of my students and I, I would like like to say thank you for all the materials that you have given to help my skills develop their reading comprehension skills. In having these resources, I have seen a growth in my students in providing details from a story to support their way of thinking, and being able to infer concepts due to them using context clues to guide their thought process. Often during reading workshop earlier in the year, my students continued to need maximum support when questions asked them to identify the theme or main idea of a text, or inferring things about characters based on context clues. In using these resources during small group instruction, or one on one conferring sessions my students found lessons more engaging when they were asked to roll the dice and answer questions related to the text. My students engagement during reading further increased when reading prompts where direct and was something that they could connect with on a personal level.

    In continuing to practice these skills, many of my students have shown progress in meeting their goal of reading on grade level. With your help, my students and I have been fortunate enough to have reading session where engagement within a text has been high, and students feel more comfortable reading because the knew what they were looking for and connecting with them throughout the text.   • Listening to Understand: Building Reading Comprehension

    From my 5th grade class at P.S 307 and myself, I would like to say thank you for donating these essential materials that has truly developed my students ability to build both fluency and comprehension in reading. In using the headphones in coordination with the online reading program, I have seen all of my students steadily develop their Lexile level in reading, which shows their ability to progress on their reading journey. Further, with these headphones my students are able to read countless novel independently and free from distraction, which has helped them stay on task and hone in on their reading craft. With the notebooks and pencils, some of my students who lacked the necessary tools to take notes during our lessons; now have the ability.

    In having these resources, my students are eager to read, and ask more frequently to get onto this program because of the access to audio books. They are excited to show what they are reading, and even collaborate with their peers to form book clubs based on similar interest. Thank you for providing this opportunity for my students to develop their skills in reading. This has help them in not only the reading domain, but in all academic areas.”
