  • Help My School Rockestra!

    Funded Dec 7, 2014

My music classes are humming along, thanks to your generosity! The after-school rock band has been enjoying the benefits of the PA system, and the addition of the keyboards has provided my students with another avenue for creative expression. The new instrumental method books have replaced our old worn-out ones, and the strings class is excited about having books that have all the pages intact! Through these books, the students will continue to hone their technique and music reading skills. Thank you very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ojeda

  • Instrumental Method Books for Urban Elementary School

    Funded Oct 2, 2013

I would like to thank you for your generous support of my project. The instrumental music method books were delivered to my school, and my students and I started using them immediately. It felt so good to be able to issue to a student a book that is intact, has all its pages, and does not have any writings or torn portions.

The biggest advantage to having these books is the wide range of instructional strategies that they offer for me, the teacher. Through these materials, I am able to easily accommodate the different learning styles that are represented in my music classes.

The students are allowed to take these books home for their at-home practice. Some of them have told me about how, after they have practiced their assignments and have nothing else to do, they enjoy looking ahead to future lessons and learning new songs.

Your donations really have made a big difference for me and my students. I appreciate your help immensely, and I must say that your kindness motivates me even more to do the best job that I possibly could for these deserving students! Thank you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ojeda

My students are third, fourth and fifth graders who start learning an instrument in their first year of instruction, and then continue in their second year by participating in a larger ensemble. They are inquisitive young folks who are not afraid to explore and try new things. They seem to really enjoy their music class, and they consider it a safe environment for taking on daunting tasks. The school where they attend is located in the heart of a big city, and its entire student body qualifies for the free lunch program. Its teachers and staff give it their all to provide a nurturing environment for the students.
