Lit Books and Graphic Novels for a "LIT" Library
Funded Oct 17, 2021Our library has really come to life! We cannot thank you enough for your generous donations. Your gifts have enabled us to grow in confidence in reading. We really enjoy checking out books, sharing them with our classmates, and writing our reviews. Speed dating is an especially favorite time of ours, We get to experience books we may not have picked for ourselves, but we got exposed to books that opened our eyes to new perspectives. We also get to enjoy first chapter Fridays. Students enjoy the read aloud and get to banter over who is going to read the rest of it first.
Thank you for making this possible for us.”

Classroom Ready for Learning Adventures
Funded Jan 1, 2018I cannot thank you enough for your generous contribution towards making our classroom ready for learning adventures. We have been very busy preparing for state exams and working through our inquiries in Math and Science. Recently we turned out easel into an incentive board since we got a new Promethean board from a school-wide tech grant, so we've been shifting things around. Our whiteboard fits perfectly in space we assigned for it, and I as instructional leader use it to guide students through the daily activities while students will use it as a cooperative space to work through different tasks as well as take notes.
They were so shocked to see the new materials when they arrived. More so the flexible seating and whiteboard. We had to teach through using it all and they are excited about the opportunity to share the materials. We make use of our seating and board more than the rug but it is a colorful addition to our classroom environment and is available to students to use, though none of them have used it as of yet.
Your contribution has enabled us to greatly expand our teaching and learning spaces in our classroom and we cannot thank you enough!”

Social-Emotional Development: Making our classroom F.U.N.
Funded Aug 29, 2014When my students learned that you generously provided resources and materials to support them learning to problem solve and grow socially, they cheered and clapped happily. Our first time talking and walking through the different activities and growth opportunities yielded dividends as my scholars engaged one another eagerly.
I observed my scholars not just playing the game but helping one another navigate the options, offering and taking up roles and responsibilities, and carefully explaining and exercising the rules of each game and activity. These games have allowed my scholars greater opportunities to develop in a way that will help them navigate difficult situations and learn skills for working with others.
We are incredibly grateful for your support and I know that there is so much more in store for my scholars as they continue to engage and practice working together and growing through fun and play.”

A Captivating New Meeting Center for Superstar Scholars!
Funded Mar 25, 2011I cannot begin to express how grateful my students and I are about your contribution to our new meeting center. Our new easel helps us to engage in learning daily...Ms. O now has so many more tools at arms reach and it takes us less time to organize centers and interactive learning activities. We love our new shiny and clean easel. Now, we do interactive writing on the board and the hooks helps to turn the pages of our writing pads with ease. We also have these cool magnets that help us hold open big books and we take turns reading together...our old easel didn't even have a book ledge. It is so great to now have two boards to write on - one with lines and one without. This new easel is easy to move around, just one more reason why our new easel is so great. Thank you so much again!”

Star Books (And Classroom Furniture) for Superstar Kids!
Funded Dec 17, 2010We have received our bookshelf and various books. They have added greatly to the organization in our room and the depth of our star book library. My students are immensely organized now that they are using the shelf to store work- and notebooks. Additionally, we love to share the star books during independent reading time and it is a real treat to break out the big books and use our pointers to read theme.
The shelf and books have been a great addition to our burgeoning classroom and we can't say enough how grateful we are to you for your contribution. For helping use grow and learn, thank you!”

Funded Oct 1, 2010It's been a couple of months since we received the materials from this project. It is such a joy to watch my students grow and learn as they "shop", paint, and roll out letters and numbers with the playdough. Cooperative play serves as a medium through which my students have been learning to share, count, recognize shapes and colors, and just generally stretch their imaginations! We are so grateful to all of you for your support for "Bit by Bit" and we look forward to your continued support in the near future. We still have a long way to go to make our classroom into everything we want it to be, so stay tuned! Have a joyous holiday season!”

1st Graders Collecting, Designing, and Listening
Funded Mar 28, 2010Wow! We are so in awe of our new classroom equipment! We struggled through set up because we have some technical issues with our room environment. As of today, you'll see that my kids are using the head phones on the computer as they play literacy games and improve their reading. We got our printer installed just in time to print pictures of our artists-at-work for use in our Home Connectionos letters as well as our classroom displays. How cool it is to print out pictures of us on trip to help us remember our special times and create picture books to share with others.
While our listening center is on hold because of some unforeseen technical issues, we do look forward to having it finally set up within the next two weeks and I'll be sure to upload additional pictures.
Thank you for the great blessing you have have been to our classroom. Keep up the good work and we will too!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ofikuru
