Readers That Are In Need
Funded Sep 1, 2018You have made a huge impact in our classroom! With the new book stand my students have an easier time finding the books they want to read during center time or when I do read aloud to them. They also have really found the scissors and pencils very helpful during classwork time. They have found it easier for their small fingers to improve their penmanship and cutting skills. These items are very appropriate for young learners that I would not otherwise have available to me. The. name tags we have are also very sturdy and long lasting. The children have used them with ease because they are perfect for young children. All the items we received have been put to use every single day . Thank you again!!”

Hooked on Laptop!!
Funded Mar 8, 2012When I told my students that we were getting a laptop for our classroom, they were so thrilled. Everyday they would ask if the laptop had arrived. Well when it finally arrived, all the children were around me trying to see, the amazing addition to our classroom. So, I decided to open the box in front of them. They yelled with excitement!!
We turned on the computer and saw that my students faces were filled with amazement. I decided to use this moment and make it a teachable moment. I used a circle map (graphic organizer) and had the children brainstorm and think how we could use this laptop in the classroom to improve our learning. The children came up with so many amazing ideas, from watching video clips to playing math and reading games. We all cannot wait to connect it to my classroom projector and explore the endless possibilities. But more importantly, I cannot wait to make my lessons much more exciting and impacting!! My students and I thank you so much.”

First Graders Can Read and Spell!!
Funded Feb 3, 2012Learning to read and spell is difficult, but once children are able to break the code it will leave them with an everlasting impact. Thanks to your donations, I was able to obtain materials that my students needed to help them improve in reading and spelling. During writing assignments, my students have shown much more accuracy in spelling. In addition, most students have shown improvement in daily reading assignments. One day while one of my students used the long vowel magic boards, he said to me, "Ms. Ochoa, I get it, I know how to spell words!!" This student was so happy that he is learning and I was happy for him.
Let me tell you that my students have never been so excited about learning and that is thanks to you. My students cannot wait each day to be able to use the materials you helped us purchase. They love the games and materials so much that sometimes they fight because everyone wants a turn. I am so grateful that you chose to support my project and that my students are learning while having fun. But, please don't tell them that!! A million thanks.”
With gratitude,
Ms. OCHOA
