Put yourself in this situation – sitting at your classroom desk working on your iPad. Your tapping your feet just waiting for the next transition, so you can get up and move. All you want to do is get up and walk around, but you don’t want to disturb the classroom. You decide to pretend to go to the bathroom because you can’t sit any longer. Then when you come back, you are behind because you had to get up to go walk around. Now put yourself in this situation – sitting at your desk working on your iPad, bouncing your feet on your bouncy band. Life is good because you are able to move. Bouncy bands will improve the learning of my movement based 5th graders. Students deserve the ability to move while learning. These bouncy band will enable each student to do without even getting out of their seat. As a teacher, I do my best with letting the students have brain brakes, include physical activity within lessons, and have frequent transition times when students get up and move, but in fifth grade there is never enough movement. I have seen how movement has increased the focus and learning in my students, and I know these bouncy bands will give each of the students a chance to “move it, move it” like in the theme song of “Madagascar.”
