I need headphones for my students to use with their iPads. At my school, each student receives their own iPad to use in the classroom. Having iPads in the classroom truly is a blessing and there are so many amazing things we get to do with them. Some of the apps we use such as Freckle and Starfall have listening elements to them. Without headphones, it can be difficult to hear the necessary parts of the assignment on these apps. I have kids turn the volume on their iPad to where only they can hear it as to not distract others, but with 25 iPads all talking at once, it can get pretty loud.
We will use the headphones almost every day to better our education with our iPads. The students also take an online test such as the Galileo test, where they have the opportunity to have the test read to them through an iPad feature called text to speech. With the use of headphones, the students I teach are able to achieve more on their tests. I teach many ELL learners who are still learning how to read English and having headphones and the ability to hear the words instead of just having to read them allows them to show their skills in the classroom and show me what they actually do know and does not limit them due to their reading level.
