  • Clever Contraptions: A STEM Challenge in Creating Complex Machines

    Funded May 6, 2024

The hands-on nature of the project allowed students to internalize these concepts more deeply than through textbook learning alone. They saw firsthand how theoretical principles operate in the real world, making abstract ideas tangible and accessible. This approach not only enhanced their grasp of physics and engineering but also built their confidence in tackling complex problems through creativity and perseverance.

By providing the freedom to design and build their own Rube Goldberg machines, students were able to explore unconventional solutions and experiment with different configurations. This process unleashed their imaginations and encouraged creative problem-solving. They learned to iterate on their designs, troubleshooting and refining their machines to achieve the desired outcome.”

  • May I Have a Kleenex?

    Funded May 20, 2024

The new hygiene resources have made a noticeable impact on our classroom environment. A specific project that highlights this is our recent science experiment on germ transmission. Students used the hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and paper towels to practice proper hygiene before and after handling materials.

During the experiment students pointed out how quickly the spread of germs can be controlled with these resources. To show how to mitiate germ spread we used a harmless, glowing gel to simulate germs. Students observed the gel under UV light before and after using hand sanitizer. They were amazed at the reduction in "germs" and became more aware of the importance of hygiene.

By ensuring these resources are always available, students feel more responsible for their health and their peers.”

  • Empowering STEM Exploration with Interactive Science Notebooks

    Funded May 6, 2024

The introduction of interactive science notebooks has significantly empowered students by giving them ownership of their learning journey. They are actively involved in the process of learning, which shifts the focus from passive reception of information to active engagement and inquiry.

The hands-on nature of the notebooks has led to higher levels of student engagement and participation in STEM activities.

By creating a tangible record of their learning, students develop a deeper understanding and retention of STEM concepts.”

  • Feeding Students' Minds and Bodies

    Funded Jan 9, 2024

The students' reactions to the snacks were priceless. When they first saw the array of snacks available, their faces lit up with excitement and surprise. Many of my students come from households where such treats are rare, so having access to them in the classroom was a special delight. One student exclaimed, "This is the best day ever!" while another mentioned that having a snack break helped them feel more energized and ready to tackle the next lesson.

By ensuring that my students never have to feel hungry while they are working hard to learn, you've made a significant impact on their ability to concentrate and perform academically. The snacks not only curb their hunger but also provide a sense of care and consideration that boosts their overall morale. Your support has been instrumental in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment.”

  • If You SEE It, You Can BE It!

    Funded Sep 23, 2023

I am writing to express my profound gratitude for your generous support of our project, "You SEE It, You Can BE It!" Your contributions, including the Canon printer, color ink, black ink, and paper, have empowered us to provide our students with a powerful tool for celebrating their identity and culture while inspiring them to pursue STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fields. I am thrilled to share with you the incredible impact this project has had on our students.

Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to create printed projects that highlight the contributions of Hispanic individuals to the field of STEAM. These projects serve as a source of inspiration and pride for our students, allowing them to see themselves represented in the achievements of Hispanic STEAM leaders. The Canon printer and supplies you provided have enabled us to produce high-quality printed materials that capture these projects' vibrant visuals and engaging content, further enhancing their impact on our students.

Introducing these printed projects has ignited excitement and empowerment among our students. They are captivated by the stories and accomplishments of Hispanic STEAM pioneers, and they take pride in knowing that individuals from their cultural backgrounds have made significant contributions to these fields. The visibility of Hispanic role models in STEAM has inspired my students to pursue their passions and instilled in them a sense of confidence and possibility for their future endeavors.

Furthermore, the representation provided by these printed projects has profoundly impacted my students' aspirations and academic pursuits. Research shows that Hispanic students are more likely to pursue STEAM degrees when they see examples of high achievers who share their cultural background. By highlighting Hispanic STEAM contributions, we empower my students to envision themselves as future leaders and innovators in these fields, ultimately opening doors to endless opportunities for their success.

Your support has given my students the representation and visibility they need to take pride in their identity and culture. By celebrating Hispanic STEAM contributions, we are honoring past generations' achievements and inspiring tomorrow's leaders and innovators.”

  • Science Class + a Little Sweet Treat = Happiness

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

I am thrilled to share the incredible impact your support has had on our students, particularly in our science class. Thanks to your generous donation, I introduced a delightful addition to our learning environment: sweet treats! I am excited to tell you about this project's positive effects on my students.

Our science class has always been a space for exploration, discovery, and hands-on learning. However, with the addition of these sweet treats, we've been able to add an extra element of joy and excitement to our lessons. We use the treats strategically as rewards for active participation, excellent assignment performance, and demonstrating a deep understanding of scientific concepts.

When the students first saw the materials – Sour Patch Kids, Swedish Fish, Rice Krispies Treats, Airheads, lollipops – their reactions were priceless. Their eyes widened with surprise and delight, and they couldn't contain their excitement. The mere sight of the colorful assortment of treats instantly lifted their spirits and created an atmosphere of anticipation and eagerness.

The impact has been remarkable since introducing the sweet treats into our classroom. Not only have they served as incentives for active engagement and academic achievement, but they've also created moments of joy and camaraderie among the students. Sharing these treats has fostered a sense of community and friendship, enhancing the overall classroom experience.

Moreover, the sweet treats have provided a much-needed pick-me-up during particularly challenging or intensive lessons. They serve as a brief respite, allowing students to recharge and refocus, ultimately increasing their productivity and enthusiasm for learning.

Your support has brought smiles to the faces of our students and added an extra layer of enjoyment to our science class. Your generosity has provided delicious treats and created lasting memories and positive experiences for my students.

Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity. Your support has made a significant difference in the lives of our students, and we are incredibly grateful for your ongoing commitment to their education and well-being.”
