Funded Mar 12, 2025Hip hip hooray, snacks are on the way! The word is out that early morning science tutoring is all about learning with food and fun. I invited 26 students who were considered "bubble students" meaning they were right on the brink of achieving mastery to the first morning of tutoring. Only 2 showed up. Those two students had a blast playing Blooket and eating Pop-tarts whilst mastery science concepts that word soon quickly spread. Science tutoring is now standing room only. Students are arriving 15 to 20 minutes earlier than our start time just to get a seat and first dibs on the yummies you provided. Thank you for helping me support my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nudd
Sweet Incentives: Motivating Middle School Science Minds and Hearts
Funded Dec 8, 2024I am thrilled to share the incredible impact your generous contributions have had on my middle school science classroom. Thanks to your support, I have introduced various engaging and interactive resources that have truly transformed the learning environment.
When the new materials arrived, the excitement in the classroom was palpable. Students eagerly gathered around as I unboxed Jolly Rancher Lollipops, Takis Blue Heat, Airheads Bars, Mars Candy Variety Pack, Charms Mini Pops, and Razzles Gum. Their eyes lit up with curiosity and anticipation, and the room buzzed with energy as they realized the fun and learning that lay ahead.
These treats have been instrumental in increasing focus and concentration during my lessons. Students can maintain their energy levels and stay engaged throughout the class by providing a small, enjoyable snack. Additionally, I have used these treats as extrinsic rewards for superior work and positive behavior. Recognizing students' efforts with a sweet incentive has motivated them to strive for excellence and has fostered a positive and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
One memorable moment was when I used the candy to explore mass, volume, and density concepts. Students worked in groups to measure and compare the different types of candy, recording their findings and discussing the results. The hands-on activity made the lesson more engaging and helped solidify their understanding of these important scientific concepts.
These resources have not only enhanced my current lessons but have also inspired new projects. For example, I am planning a unit on chemical reactions, where students will use the candy to create their own experiments and observe the changes. This project will allow them to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, fostering their scientific skills and passion for learning.
Your support has made a significant difference in my classroom, and I am deeply grateful. The students are more motivated and engaged than ever, and I am excited to continue exploring the wonders of science together. Thank you for being a part of our journey and helping inspire the next generation of scientists.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nudd
Mission Impact Minimization: Engineering Reentry Modules
Funded Nov 13, 2024I hope this message finds you well. I am thrilled to share the impact of your generous contribution to my "Mission Impact Minimization: Engineering Reentry Modules" project. Thanks to you, my physical science students have been able to dive into an extraordinary hands-on learning experience.
With the new resources provided by your donation, my students had the opportunity to put the design and engineering process to work by creating egg-less containers with a mass of less than 800g and a volume of under 900 cm³. These engineering marvels were showcased at the Florida SECME competition on Saturday, February 1st at Miami Dade College.
The students' reactions when they first saw the materials were priceless—there was an air of excitement and curiosity. They eagerly delved into the project, brainstorming and collaborating to design innovative reentry modules. This project not only enhanced their understanding of physics and engineering principles but also fostered teamwork and creative problem-solving skills.
One memorable moment was when a group of students successfully tested their design, cheering as it met all the criteria. Witnessing their sense of achievement and joy was truly heartwarming. Your support made this unforgettable event possible, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
Thank you once again for your generosity and for making such a meaningful difference in my students' education.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nudd

Funded Sep 21, 2024The impact on my classroom has been truly remarkable. Here's how your support has helped us achieve the goals we set out for this project:
Enhanced Comprehension: Preformatting key information allows ELL and ESE students to focus on the teacher's explanations rather than frantically trying to write everything down. This reduces cognitive overload and allows them to grasp the underlying concepts better.
Promoted Active Learning: Instead of passively copying notes, students actively engage with the material by filling in blanks, drawing diagrams, and answering questions within the guided notes. This interactive approach solidifies understanding and keeps them engaged in the learning process.
Fostered Inclusivity: The guided notes level the playing field, providing a clear and structured framework for all students, regardless of their learning background. This allows them to participate fully in class discussions and activities.
The most heartwarming aspect? Seeing students' faces light up as they grasp a concept they previously found challenging. These guided notes empower them to succeed in science, fostering a sense of confidence and motivation in their learning journey.
Thank you once again for your invaluable support. You've helped make my classroom a more inclusive and engaging learning environment, giving all my students a solid foundation for scientific exploration!”

Funded Aug 22, 2024Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous contribution to my DonorsChoose project! Your support means the world to my incredible 6th-grade English Language Learner (ELL) students and will profoundly impact their learning experience.
These students are truly remarkable. They face unique challenges, including language barriers, yet consistently demonstrate resilience, a thirst for knowledge, and a remarkable ability to engage with even the most complex scientific concepts. Your donation will empower them to learn through hands-on exploration, making science come alive in a way that textbooks simply can't.
The specific items you've helped fund, such as the metal water rocket launcher with the 125 PSI safety valve, are essential for creating these engaging learning opportunities. With this equipment, we can conduct exciting experiments, explore physics principles like pressure and propulsion, and foster a deeper understanding of scientific concepts through real-world application. This hands-on experience will solidify their knowledge of science, boost their confidence, and ignite a passion for STEM fields.
Thanks to your generosity, my students will have the chance to:
Engage in hands-on, experiential learning that transcends language barriers.
Develop a deeper understanding of scientific principles through exciting experiments.
Build confidence and a love for science.
Your belief in my students and your investment in their education will make a tangible difference in their lives. Thank you again for your kindness and support. We are truly grateful.”

Funded May 7, 2024The resources you provided have been instrumental in launching the Kindness Rocks project. Students have been decorating rocks with positive messages and colorful designs, which they then exchange with their peers. This simple yet meaningful activity has fostered a nurturing and supportive classroom environment.
Through the process of decorating and exchanging rocks, students have developed important social-emotional skills such as communication, empathy, and cooperation. They have learned to express themselves creatively and to appreciate the efforts of their classmates. The activity has encouraged them to listen to each other, offer positive feedback, and resolve any conflicts that arise with kindness and understanding. These skills are essential for building positive relationships and navigating social interactions both inside and outside the classroom.”
