By providing items like a wobble seats, lap desk, and a balance beam my students will be able to maintain focus throughout the school day, take ownership of their learning environment by picking an area they feel they can be successful, and allow my students sensory needs to be met. Flexible seating will also support my K-1 classroom by teaching the students a sense of community. Understanding how to share with friends and keep our items nice so we can use them in the future. Learning how if we don't use the items properly it can affect other people around us because we won’t have them anymore. My classroom uses the Zones of Regulation in order to help determine how we are feeling and then we take that information and process how we can react to that feeling. By providing the balance beam and spin disc I can offer a variety of coping choices for the students to choose from. This will help them release their energy and be able to get back to the “green zone” and be ready to work. The sensory rings and floor tiles will helps students mantain focus while working.
