  • Dancing Towards a Brighter Future

    Funded Jan 10, 2019

Thank you again for helping support our school dance program. Your donation and help has already impacted our program greatly!

Most recently, these beautiful dance skirts were used in our first ever school-wide musical Aladdin, Kids. Students in grades 3 through 5 were draped in bright colors of pink, green, blue, and purple. These skirts helped transform our students into vendors of Agrabah, Prince Ali's entourage, and more. These skirts also matched our vibrant fabric backdrop and created picturesque scene.

This Spring, these skirts will be used in our Spring dance recital 'A Night at the Movies'. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade will perform dances to songs from movie soundtracks in genres of ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop. These skirts will make perfect costumes for our 3rd and 4th graders.

From the bottom of my heart - Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for most of all - believing in us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Namnama

  • Professional Dancers in Training

    Funded Mar 29, 2019

Thank you again for helping support our school dance program. Your donation and help has already impacted our program greatly!

Right after receiving the donations, students have worn the leggings to a district wide dance festival. Additionally, students have begun using the stretch bands on a daily basis during warm-up activities. These bands help students prepare for dance class, rehearsals, performances and showcases. These resources also give students news ways to prepare themselves for dance. Lastly, the skirts purchased through this project are being used in class to practice for an upcoming show. Our Spring recital will showcase students in grade K-8 across various genres.

From the bottom of my heart - Thank you for believing in our students and our dance program.”

  • Dance in the Brick City

    Funded Dec 6, 2018

Thank you again for believing in us and supporting our project 'Dance in the Brick City'. The resources provided from this project has helped our dance team practice and perform like true artists. So far, we have used these resources in multiple performances and showcases. This Winter, we had a school-wide performance of the famous ballet The Nutcracker and this March, we had our first every school musical Aladdin. Additionally, in our Black History Month show, our middle school students showcased their talents in modern dance for our school and invited guests. These shorts, tights, and sports bras have made my students professional dancers.

We appreciate your contributions to our dance team as we wouldn't be here without you. Thank you again!”

  • Ballet in the Brick City

    Funded Oct 11, 2018

Thank you again for your generous donations for our Dance Team students. This project helped provide skirts and brand new ballet slippers for our students to use in performances and dance competitions. This school year, we've participated in numerous school-wide activities where we have been able to showcase excellence in dance education.

This Winter, we performed our first school-wide performance of the classic ballet The Nutcracker. Students in grades 2-8 performed with poise and grade for their peers, teachers, and parents. Thanks to you, students practiced and performed like professional dances and I couldn't be more thankful. Currently, are rehearsing and will be using these items again in our Spring dance recital.

I could never provide these items without your help. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Namnama

  • Determined Dancers in Training

    Funded Sep 8, 2018

Thank you again for donating to our 'Determined Dancers in Training' project! Your donations allowed us to start the school year on the right foot and we are so thankful.

When the students saw the abundance of ballet skirts and leotards in the dressing this year, they were ecstatic! They love feeling like professional dancers and showing off their costumes room to their teachers and parents. The students love using their new ballet slippers during rehearsals and cannot wait to wear their new leotards. Most recently, the students used some new leotards at a local school board performance. The students received a standing ovation from the district superintendent, school board, and everyone in attendance. I was so proud of them and the impact they were able to leave on others through dance. I plan to create another project so that more students can join our dance team.

Right now, my students are preparing for their school-wide Hispanic Heritage Show where we will use the resources from this project. They will also utilize them during our upcoming rendition of 'The Nutcracker'. We also just announced our Disney Musicals auditions and sign-ups for the dance team. I am so excited to see what the students accomplish this year through dance.

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. Your support and belief in my students means the world to me and I will be forever grateful.”

  • Dance Team in Training!

    Funded Aug 11, 2018

Thank you again for donating to our 'Dance Team in Training' project! Your donations allowed us to start the school year on the right foot and we are so thankful.

The students love using their new ballet barre and yoga blocks during rehearsals. Additionally, the yoga mats are a HUGE addition to our everyday instruction. Students self regulate using, cleaning, and up-keeping the mats so that they will last. I even went out and purchased some more mats so that each class has at least one set. I plan to create another project for more mats, blocks, and barres so that each student can use the resources during rehearsals.

Right now, my students are preparing for their school-wide Hispanic Heritage Show. We also just announced our Disney Musicals auditions and sign-ups for the dance team. I am so excited to see what the students accomplish this year through dance.

When the students saw the dressing room filled with new costumes and resources for them to use, they were ecstatic! The students love feeling like professional dancers. Your donations are helping students prepare for their performance of the Nutcracker taking place in December. Most recently, we used the dance tights at a performance during a school board meeting hosted at our school. • Dancing Towards a Brighter Future

    Funded Apr 17, 2018

I cannot begin to put into words how your donation has impacted our dance program this school year. As you can see from our pictures, students shined bright like the stars that they truly are in our Spring dance recital. This was the first time our school ever participated in a school-wide dance recital and it certainly will not be the last. Students in kindergarten through eighth graded practiced for months in genres of ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater, lyrical, and hip-hop. The theme of the recital was Disney and everyone - from the teachers and staff to the administrators and community members - were floored. The students exceeded my wildest expectations and we were all so proud of them.

This upcoming school year, we plan to do even bigger and better things. Instead of just a dance club, I will be hosting a dance team for students who wish to pursue performing arts even further. These students will train like professional dancers and will perform at numerous events in our Newark, NJ community. Additionally, I have already began to draft the outline for next years dance recital 'A Night at the Movies'. I cannot wait to see what my students can achieve this school year.

Your donation has truly inspired my students to continue pursuing greatness in the arts and we will be forever grateful.”
