  • A New Home for Dance Donations! Part 2

    Funded Jan 24, 2020

We were so excited when we received our resources from this project in the mail! Our students had a great time opening these packages and figuring out what these resources were. The poly-dots requested in this project have already been a great help with assisting students in maintaining personal space while dancing. Students have used these visual aides to safely move through the space and from one dot to another.

The exercise mats requested in this project are so soft and help provide a safe space for students to dance! These foam mats interlock very easily and were exactly what we were looking for in order to make our dance studio a more safe and inclusive space. From the bottom of my heart - Thank you!”

  • Loving the Skin We Are In - Skin Tone Tights!

    Funded Apr 1, 2020

My students and I are so appreciative for your support of our project for skin-tone tights. During various performances, we are always looking for the right sized tights in the correct shade for every student. Now, we have several new tights in various skin-toned shades that we cannot wait to use when we are back in school. When students first saw our boxes of new tights and resources, they were so excited and elated to wear these tights at our annual end of the year dance recital. While we will have to wait just a bit longer until we can be dancing together in our auditorium, we will continue to do so safely until then. Thank you again for your continued support of our dance program - we couldn't do it without you!,”

  • Staying Active During Distance Learning

    Funded May 28, 2020

With remote learning well under way, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for helping our students both over the summer and into the remote learning process.

When our students first saw the jump ropes, Uno cards, balls, bubbles and other resources, they were so excited! We distributed these resources alongside a food distribution event where families most in need received bags of food to help assist them throughout the summer. Students had the opportunity to select which games and/or resources they wanted to use over the summer and were even able to select games and toys for their siblings. We so greatly appreciate your support of our students and look forward to sharing pictures of students receiving these resources in the near future.”

  • The Jungle Book! Costumes and Props

    Funded Mar 1, 2020

Thank you again for your support of our upcoming production of The Jungle Book! The resources provided through this project impacted all of our cast members in a wonderful way. While we had to postpone our upcoming production due to the recent pandemic, this has not deterred our drive or dedication to our Disney Musicals in Schools program. Students have been working remotely to rehearse their songs, choreography, and have even created a short preview to share with our school community. We very much look forward to sharing our talents come the 2020-2021 school year. Thank you again for your support!,”

  • The Jungle Book! Part 1

    Funded Jan 24, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity towards our students and our Disney Musicals in Schools program. We were so thankful to get this project funded just in time for our upcoming production of The Jungle Book. However, due to the recent pandemic, we have had to postpone our Spring production to the 2020-2021 school year. Thankfully, we have a great DMIS team and cast members that are relentless and ready to give the show 110% next school year. It is during this time that both students in the show and show attendees will be able to utilize the resources provided through this project. The students were so excited to open these resources and very much look forward to sharing them with our school come next school year. Thank you again for your on-going support!”

  • On Broadway! Dance Recital Costumes

    Funded Feb 6, 2020

We are so appreciative of your recent donations for dance recital costumes! This past week, 21 students in grades 3-8 used these beautiful black and blue fringe costumes in our Black History Month performance. Students were so excited to perform for their peers, teachers, and parents and cannot wait to use these costumes again in the Spring.

Moving forward, students will continue to learn and rehearse new choreography for our Spring dance recital 'On Broadway'. We currently have a new project posted requesting skin-tone tights so that all of our dances can feel empowered to love the skin they are in. We are so thankful for your ongoing support and hope you enjoy the pictures of our dances using the resources you helped donate. Thank you!!”

  • Dedicated Dancers in Training

    Funded Mar 25, 2019

Thank you again for helping support our school dance program. Your donation and help has already impacted our program greatly!

Right after receiving the donations, students have worn the leggings to a district wide dance festival. Additionally, students have begun using the stretch bands on a daily basis during warm-up activities. These bands help students prepare for dance class, rehearsals, performances and showcases. These resources also give students news ways to prepare themselves for dance. Lastly, the skirts purchased through this project are being used in class to practice for an upcoming show. Our Spring recital will showcase students in grade K-8 across various genres.

From the bottom of my heart - Thank you for believing in our students and our dance program.”

  • Green Screen for iPad Dreams!

    Funded Jun 18, 2019

This green screen has had such a positive impact on our school community! With our 6-8th grade students having a tablet for everyday use, we have been able to use this green screen and applicable resources fluidly with classroom instruction as well as during school events.

What is most exciting about this new product is how my dance students have been able to use it to take professional headshots, dance pictures, and videos. In particular, our students that audition for summer intensive and magnet high schools have been able to promote their craft using these resources.

In the next few weeks, our 3rd-5th grade students will be collaborating with our middle school students to take pictures "in the jungle" using this screen to promote our upcoming school musical - The Jungle Book! Thank you for your generous support as these resources have made a lasting impact on our school community.”

  • A New Home for Dance Donations

    Funded Sep 26, 2019

We are so appreciative of your support for us through this project. Together, our donors were able to help provide a beautiful new shed for housing our various dance and performing arts department costumes and resources. This safe place will ensure these items can be stored properly and can be used for years to come.

Currently, we are still waiting for our district office to finish building this shed outside of our dance studio. We are so excited to see this final product and begin moving these costumes, shoes, fabrics, and additional resources into the shed. I look forward to sharing pictures of this final product with you. Thank you!”
