Fostering Fluency & Independence
Funded Sep 17, 2024I am delighted to see this project has been fully funded! Students have started learning the routines of different literacy and math stations in my classroom and this will be an important one to add. Students will be able to work independently on skills at their level while I pull small groups for guided practice on targeted skills.”

Funded Sep 5, 2023The math materials you provided my classroom with this year have been instrumental to my students' learning this year. First off, games are a fun way to learn! All of them allow for multiple entry points and skills, so everyone feels successful and challenged. While students are engaged in the games, I am able to pull small groups and work with kids at their level and with the necessary supports. Also, our new cubes and meter sticks allow for hands-on learning! Students appreciate having materials that look nice and work properly. Thank you so much for your generosity. You've helped my students tremendously.”

Funded Jul 23, 2023Thank you so much for your continued support of my classroom. My students have been loving their mini whiteboards, dry erase markers, and erasers. Having these tools is a great way for kids to get their ideas down before sharing them aloud with the whole class.
Some students require a little more processing time and being able to write their thoughts and equations down helps them tremendously. Other students are super speedy and can't wait to share their ideas. The whiteboards give them a place to get credit and hold on to their thoughts before they are on to the next one!
And all students benefit from having a space to explain that is a little more fun than pencil and paper. We are always asking kids to prove things and explain themselves. They are much happier to do so on a whiteboard!”

Funded Jul 6, 2023We are loving our new set of headphones! Many games and apps on our Chromebooks contain sound. For example, many students use the audio feature to listen to books. For some students, a read-aloud is just for fun. But for others, it is an accommodation for a difficulty with reading. While the audio feature is helpful, it can be very distracting for students reading other books and texts. Headphones provide a quiet space for everyone to focus and learn. In addition to many books providing audio, academic games often include music and other audio to increase engagement. Again, this can be very distracting for others. Headphones are crucial for a room full of students working on a multitude of assignments and activities. Thank you for giving my students the tools to learn and focus more easily!”

Spring Cleaning
Funded Apr 30, 2023I can't tell you how much nicer our classroom looks from your help! My students and I work best when we are in a clean and organized space. Dust, dirt, and tiny scraps of paper, pencil shavings, broken up snack foods, staples, and a bunch of other common classroom clutter are very distracting! What's more, a dirty classroom leaves us feeling disrespected. Why must we work in fifth? We wanted to keep our space clean, but we didn't have the proper tools. Now we do! Our new vacuum cleaner works wonders. My rug of the United States goes from glum to glam! Our tile floors have never looked cleaner with the new broom. And snack time finally feels sanitary because we have plenty of Chlorox wipes to kill germs. Thank you for helping us to focus, making us feel valued, and keeping us safe with our new cleaning products!”

Crucial Chromebooks
Funded May 9, 2023My students love their new Chromebooks! They use them several times throughout each day. Chromebooks allow for many fun, engaging, and independent activities while I meet with small groups of students. During math, students love going on "Math Playground" on their Chromebook to practice multiplication and division skills. Many of these games are competitive races that really bring excitement to the room. Another favorite on their Chromebook is IXL. It provides immediate feedback to students, something that is vital while I meet with small groups. In addition to a slew of other math apps, students appreciate their Chromebooks for writing on Google documents. Whether it's an essay about a novel they're reading, a report about animals they've researched, or a narrative about their lives, students type away with ease and enthusiasm on their Chromebooks. Thank you for bringing new Chromebooks to my students!”

Funded Sep 23, 2022Thank you so much for the projector and document camera. They work as a pair to project images on the big screen so that everyone is able to see properly. My students love being able to view a book, like the silly one on homophones I read to them a couple of days ago, that would have otherwise been difficult to see from afar. It's also been helpful for the novel we're reading. They each have a copy of it, but it's helpful to project the book when referring to specific details and vocabulary. It gets us on the same page-literally! Even something as mundane as an old-fashioned paper dictionary can be interesting when enlarged and viewed as a class, as we did yesterday. During math today we zoomed in on a centimeter that was broken up into millimeters. We unravelled a paperclip and could easily see how the width of it was 1 tiny millimeter. Students got a kick out of placing their pinky finger (approximately 1 centimeter) on the ruler for the whole class to see! Students also enjoy showing how they organize tiles into arrays to represent multiplication. The uses of the projector and camera are endless! Thank you for your generosity.”

More Accessible Books
Funded Sep 23, 2021I cannot thank you enough for the help you gave boosting my classroom library. After over a year of remote learning, I had a great number of students reading at levels that my classroom library did not support. Many students do not use public libraries or have the money to purchase their own books, so my classroom library is all they have.
Before the books arrived, some of my students were picking books that were much too hard for them. They weren't really reading, but rather looking at the words and not understanding what was happening. No wonder their reading stamina was low. No wonder they had no interest in reading. When the appropriately leveled books arrived, you should have seen how my students' eyes lit up. They could finally read the books with ease and talk about the characters meaningfully. They could finally finish a book!
Thank you so much for your generosity. Because of you, my students' reading skills have improved and their confidence has grown tremendously.”
