Let's Build a Fluency Library
Funded Apr 7, 2022Reading is the gateway to life long learning and these books have already started us on our way! The book sets in this fluency library provide us with the opportunity to consolidate the skills that students are practicing during intervention with authentic grade level text that our students love. This is the first full year that we have access to the texts and I am thrilled by how much our students love them. The pride that our younger reading intervention students feel when they are first able to read a grade level book on their own is unmatched. Thank you for helping to make this possible!”

Funded Jul 29, 2021I can't thank you enough for the donation of The Really Great Reading Phonics Kits. We literally use them every day across all grade levels and my students love them. Kindergarteners use the alphabet boards and love matching the letters to the sounds. Everyone else is using them to build words using the patterns that I have taught. The ability to easily track the phonemes in words using the colored tiles followed by matching the sounds with the magnetic tiles of the various phonics patterns is really helping to solidify the relationships between speaking, reading, and writing for my students. I am so grateful and excited to know that we will be able to use them for years to come regardless of the reading intervention program that we employ. Thank you for your assistance in bringing this dream to life.”

Hands-On Reading Tools for Virtual Learning
Funded Aug 11, 2020I can't express fully how helpful your donation has been this year. We are four weeks into virtual learning and my students are joyfully using the reading tools that you helped to provide for them every day in class. We use the dry erase boards and magnetic letters to build words and hold up our answers without having to worry about muting on and off. This means that every child is able to participate and get feedback on their answer just like they would in the physical classroom. The scholastic readers are helpful for projecting on the screen in our virtual classroom while simultaenously giveing the students text to be able to have and hold in their hands. And the puppets have been a huge social emotional support for students who become sad when they don't have an opportunity to share their work with the class due to the unique time constraints of online learning. I expect that the remainder of the tools will be just as beloved by my students.
I also don't want to underestimate the way that delivering these kits helped to get my students excited about the school year or the goodwill that they generated from my parents. We truly are stronger together.
Thank you so much for helping to make this year possible.”

Funded Aug 10, 2020I can't express fully how helpful your donation has been this year. We are four weeks into virtual learning and my students are joyfully using the math tools that you helped to provide for them every day in class. We use the magnetic number bonds to hold up our answers without having to worry about muting on and off. This means that every child is able to participate and get feedback on their answer just like they would in the physical classroom. We are also using the ten frame kits for a variety of activities ranging from in class games to personal support while completing independent work assignments. I expect that the remainder of the tools will be just as beloved by my students.
I also don't want to underestimate the way that delivering these kits helped to get my students excited about the school year or the goodwill that they generated from my parents. We truly are stronger together.
Thank you so much for helping to make this year possible.”

Funded Aug 4, 2019Thank you so very much for your support of our classroom. My students love the new floor chairs. They are very comfortable and easy to clean. Having enough headphones for each student has really cut down on conflicts in the classroom and improved the usability of our classroom chrome books. Finally the Scholastic News Magazines have been a great resource as we learn about nonfiction text features. In short, you are making a huge difference in the lives of my students and we couldn't be more thankful.”

STEAM Grows Leaders and Learners
Funded Aug 18, 2019Thank you so much for helping to make Osmo technology a reality in my classroom. My students are so excited every day to work with Osmo Words and Osmo Numbers in stations. It is by far their favorite independent activity each day and I am excited about the math and reading skills that these tools impart. We were even observed by another district administrator earlier this month who was so impressed with the tools that he videotaped students using them to be able to take back to his school to share with his teachers and staff. You really are helping to grow children who love learning!”

New Tools for a New Year
Funded Aug 16, 2018The 2018-2019 school year was an overwhelmingly stressful year. Student needs were high and frequent and I had to spend lots of time building the emotional /social skills necessary for true learning to occur. Your donations helped to make all of that possible. The cushions and headphones helped to make sure that I could continue with flexible seating options. This was critical in helping my students work where they were most able to be successful. The chart paper ensured that the anchor charts we made together were available for frequent reference on the walls. The weekly readers worked to support reading and vocabulary development in the classroom, but also to strengthen the school/home connection. My parents loved having this resource to share with their kids at home both in print and electronically. I am so appreciative of the support you provided for these tools and supplies that helped ensure the progress we made and the success of my students. Thank you again for your support of my students.”

We HEART Weekly Readers!
Funded Aug 14, 2017Thank you so much for contributing to the Scholastic News Magazines that my students and I enjoy so much. My students love the pictures, videos, and games and I love how easily the topics tie into our social studies and science curriculum. The news articles also make it easy to teach about the text features that are common in non-fiction text: captions, titles, labels, maps and graphs. Finally, my parents also enjoy having the magazines come home because it gives them a connection to what we are learning in the classroom. I even have one little girl whose mom says that she reads the magazines to her baby sister each week. Building background knowledge and vocabulary is critical to the comprehension of the higher level texts that students will be exposed to in the future, so your gift is not only helping them now but will continue to help them for years to come. Thank you for helping to build a love of reading and knowledge. We appreciate you!”

Funded Aug 31, 2017I can't thank you enough for your generous book donations to my classroom. As the class becomes more and more proficient with their beginning reading skills, it is so helpful to have books on hand that are not only at their reading level but are also high interest texts. As an example, I use Piggie and Gerald from the beginning of the year to teach fluency and expression while reading and as a way to understand and connect with characters. These books are also helpful mentor texts as we try our own hand at writing comics and stories. But regardless of instructional time, the children's joy as they read them over and over again is the true sign of a good book. I am so appreciative of these books and the children's smiles tell me that they are too!”

Leadership and Choice in the 21st Century Classroom
Funded Jul 20, 2017I cannot thank you enough for your generous contributions to my classroom. Flexible seating is probably the biggest change I have ever implemented in my classroom and also the most beneficial. My students are so excited to choose their seats each week and are making choices that help them to be the best learners they can be. Kids who need to move more frequently love the opportunity to kick against the stretch bands, wobble on the wobble stools, and shift and balance on the balance cushions. I have kids that choose to sit on the high stools or stand at my high table each week and I have kids who choose to sit or kneel on cushions at the low table. We use the lap desks throughout the week for test taking and just to have extra support when we want to spread out in the classroom. The library cart and supply cart help to keep our supplies and books readily available. The combination of choice and movement is making a huge difference in my classroom this year and the supplies are all well made and should last for years to come. I am so glad that you gave me the chance to make flexible seating a reality for my students. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
