My lovely students live in high poverty and receive free or reduced lunch. Our school has a 90% English Language Learner population. I support lessons with Spanish on a daily basis. Our students' parents work two jobs and siblings take care of the younger siblings, yet parents and older siblings believe in the importance of supporting the learning process. We learn by trial and error, and every mistake is another opportunity to learn. Students are brave in admitting their mistakes. I teach the importance of communicating their learning process. Together we determine where misunderstanding has taken place. I teach Common Core Standards and presently introducing a new Language Arts adoption this year. These children are eager learners, motivated, and individual. Give me great joy to share my past life experiences and serve a role model to them.
