Use the News to Build Skills
Funded Sep 10, 2017Thank you so much on behalf of all my 7th and 8th grade students for funding our project. We now have access to a variety of articles adding and building upon our collection of informational texts. Students are able to take home and read articles in class about current world affairs. In addition student can access a wealth of resources directly from the junior scholastic website. Our class discussions have been rich and filled with debate. With multiple viewpoints students are building their skills to support their ideas using evidence from these texts. I hope you see the value in your donation to our project and how it's providing students insight on the world around them. Thank you again on behalf of our students.”

Empowering Students Through Art: Bring the MFA into East!
Funded Jan 21, 2016The visit from the Museum of Fine Arts was a huge success. The photos don't do the visit any justice. The guest speaker was very informative about Art of the Ancient World, she also brought pieces to show to students what materials the artifacts are made from. The MFA visit inspired many of our students to visit the local Fuller Craft Art Museum. Some students even made it a point to visit the MFA in Boston during their April vacation for some educative leisure.
Although it may have been just an hour presentation, the exposure to the arts is a huge components in expanding and enriching our students' education. Having the opportunity to actually see what they've been reading and studying about makes this ancient history a little more real to our students.
Thank you for being apart of our learning community and for your generous donations to this important project.”

Knowing the Past, Opens the Doors to the Future
Funded Mar 2, 2016We cannot thank you enough for your generous donation towards our project giving our students access to novels and books about African Americans in the United States. Our bilingual population will benefit directly from these texts by being able to practice their reading and comprehension with these texts.
Students have signed out several of the books and the ones that remain on the shelf, students are grabbing them when they have finished their assignments to read. I had one student start reading the comic book about Malcolm X and finished it in class and signed out his biography today. It brings me absolute joy to see our students reading about important folks in U.S. history that they would otherwise not have been exposed to in history class.
Thank you again for your generous donations and I look forward to completing another project with your help in expanding this new library that we've started this year. Stay tuned. :)”
