  • Snacks on My Brain

    Funded Mar 17, 2025

I wish you could hear the excitement in my student’s voices when I told them our project was funded! Working with 3rd & 4th graders, it’s difficult to find motivation for them at times (especially this time of year). Food is the resounding response when asked what they would like to work for. Thank you so much for helping me reward my hard-working students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riles

  • Seeking Warmth for the Winter

    Funded Dec 16, 2024

Due to your selfless donations, my school is able to provide hats, gloves, scarves, and most importantly winter coats for students in need. It's been heartbreaking seeing so many students without the proper winter attire. Thanks to your donations, we are able to provide for many grateful families. We even have resources to help our families in need for hopefully years to come.

Families are appreciative of the burden relived of them making sure their children are dressed properly for the winter weather we're having in New Jersey. This donation means more than you can fathom, as it provides safety and warmth to our students. For that, I am forever grateful.”

  • Food for Thought

    Funded Dec 11, 2023

I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for providing my students with snacks. I've found throughout the years that the students would rather have snacks to fill their bellies rather than a toy that they typically lose. It's also more satisfying as the teacher knowing they're getting something that they want and often look forward to eating.

I know a counterargument would be that a snack lasts much shorter than a toy would. However, I've never had students more excited to choose a prize than I've seen when my bin is full of snacks. It helps to motivate them and gives them something to work towards. Although a snack may seem minuscule to adults, it means everything to them and I have you to thank for that!”

  • Chromebooks for COVID-19 Learning

    Funded Oct 23, 2020

My students have been able to learn successfully this year due to your donation!

Although the school was providing Chromebooks, the students at the elementary school were given the old and abused ones left over from middle-schoolers. They were inconsistent and often missing keys, making it quite difficult to type. These new Chromebooks allowed for my students to immediately have a back-up for when their computers had issues and didn't have to wait a period of time from the technology department for them to either fix theirs or get a replacement.

This helped them stay on task and hand in assignments on time. As we all know, pandemic learning has been anything but easy, but these Chromebooks have been a lifesaver for my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riles

  • iPads, Safe and Sound

    Funded Dec 31, 2018

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations! Through this wonderful site I was donated iPads years ago. They've come with me through many transitions and grades. They add that little something extra to a lesson and allow the students to have some independence.

There are many resources available to me and my students on the iPads. In the last year I was moved from being a 6 year classroom teacher, to being the Literacy Support teacher for PreK-4th grade. Through this transition there has been a lot of change and figuring out how to continue to use my iPads in class became a great struggle. I'm on a cart and I travel to each grade every single day. I had nowhere to safely keep my iPads and had to phase them out of my lessons.

Now that I have the Tech Tub, I have a safe place to keep them and lock them up. It gives me the opportunity to phase them back into my lessons and allow the students their independence. This opens up my lessons to so many more opportunities and I am forever grateful that your donation has been able to do that for me and my 426 students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riles

  • Flexible Seating

    Funded Feb 21, 2017

I've known that our class this year would need a little extra love and attention. They need to stay active and move around to keep their brains active.

These ball chairs have been a Godsend for many of my students! When I first told them about submitting this project I was asked on the daily how much has been donated and if we had reached our goal yet.

It's especially helped my fidgety friends stay focused during lessons, and work to their highest potential. I can not thank you enough for donating to my classroom, as any support is always greatly appreciated in helping my kids succeed.”

    Mrs. Riles

  • Protect Our Precious IPads

    Funded Nov 30, 2015

My students and I are so lucky to have generous people such as yourselves. I received iPads from Donors Choose almost three years ago. Many students have had the opportunity to use them for different aspects in our learning. It has helped them listen to read-alouds for the struggling readers, provided timers for students who struggle with completing tasks, given them extra practice through games, and so much more!

I have tried to order cases through my school, but after a wrong order, and a lot of back and forth, it was never attempted again. In the three years I've had them I have been extremely lucky that none of our iPads have broken. This year alone a few different students have dropped our iPads, thankfully with no damage done. It was time to get some protection for our iPads. When I told my students that I started this project on Donors Choose they were so excited. Just imagine how they reacted when I told them we were completely funded!

We just got our cases on our iPads today and my students are more excited than ever to get back on our iPads. They couldn't wait for me to open the box and put them on. We can't thank you enough for your generous donations towards our project. It's the littlest things that wind up meaning the most!”

  • Interactive Learning with iPads

    Funded Feb 25, 2014

My students have had the opportunity to use technology at a whim. Thanks to the donation of the 5 iPads, the students are constantly able to practice skills in both literacy and math. They are able to work in groups and look things up immediately. This has saved us time in the classroom and has been very beneficial to the student's learning. They've all had the chance to use programs like Xtra Math and ScootPad that improve their comprehension and critical thinking skills. Thanks again for your generous donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riles
