These materials will help my students to practice the skills they need to learn how to read. The supplies I picked are engaging and fun. They are also interactive, which means they can participate in their small groups. I can see them using these in their stations, which they love! If my students are enjoying learning, then they are likely to progress further in reading. For example, I am requesting a sight word bingo activity for their stations. This a fun interactive game for students to memorize words they cannot sound out. They need to memorize sight words, because half of the words in text are sight words. A sight word game will help my students work towards being able to read 50% of a book by using this one activity geared towards one skill. During class, we use beginning sound cards that my students have to match together based on their prior knowledge of letter sounds. They are able to apply what we are learned in class to the activities I am requesting through this project. These activities will help to guide them to mastery of these beginning reading skills. Another activity I are requesting is called Phonemic Awareness Activity Tin. It has numerous skills that fall under Phonemic Awareness. With this one activity, my students will be able to practice rhyming, beginning skills, identifying phonemes etc! These skills are necessary foundational skills to help my students work towards reading.
