I Matter Because I Am the Future
Funded Nov 26, 2020I am thrilled to announce that I am finally being allowed to distribute the art kits to our students for the second semester. I have spent about 60 hours making 240 art kits. These materials are so vital to us being able to continue our work as an art school. Your gift is helping me put a a paint set into 120 bags with paint and canvases for the Painting classes. The students will be thrilled.
Without these supplies, the cupboards would be bare! Most of my students do not have access to supplies, and last semester we either distributed, delivered or mailed 750 kits. The projects that will follow this infusion of color are abstract paintings about music, experimental abstract paintings, and cultural self portriats.
You have helped make what is a stressful school year for all a much better experience. There is so much pride in ownership, and your gifts completely level the playing field. We appreciate you so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. McManus

Funded Oct 7, 2020Thank you for the generous gift to my students. Currently, we are in a semester where I was able to provide 240 students with art kits to take home for distance learning. It's been just amazing to see what they can do from home and so many of them are thriving due to the generosity of our donors.
These supplies have been distributed to the students and they are currently using the sketchbooks to plan their artwork and canvases to make paintings. Your gift supports 120 of my Painting 1 and 2 students with a paint kit, brushes, sketchbooks and enough canvases for the fall semester.
I am so excited to be able to provide the same materials to each student. It makes such a difference as I teach on zoom to know that they can all access the same tool or supply. We are making lemonade out of this situation and doing our best to keep hope and creativity alive. We appreciate it. The students will be thrilled.”

Painting students received a paint kit, new brushes and enough canvases and watercolor paper for the fall semester and a bit to start their spring. I can't wait to share some of the great work they are doing. We are currently painting childhood memories, nostalgia and hope. I am sure they will bring a smile to your face.

Funded Mar 12, 2020I am so sorry to not be able to tell the story of how excited our students were to receive this gift, because the week the supplies showed up was the week we moved to home learning due to Covid-19. I was able to distribute some pens and pencils, but as we moved to shutting down our classrooms, I wasn't able to set up a distribution center.
My plan is to set up a station in an office where students are free to pick up a pencil, pen or pad without having to get a pass to see the nurse. I am happy to be able to give these supplies freely to our low income kids. They should not be worried about where to get basic supplies.
We appreciate your generosity and your kindness towards our students.”

Ms. McManus
