Equity Begins With All Artists Having the Same Great Supplies
Funded Mar 10, 2021I am thrilled to announce that I am finally being allowed to distribute the art kits to our students for the second semester. I have spent about 60 hours making 240 art kits. These materials are so vital to us being able to continue our work as an art school. Your gift is helping me put a a paint set into 120 bags with paint and canvases for the Painting classes. The students will be thrilled.
Without these supplies, the cupboards would be bare! Most of my students do not have access to supplies, and last semester we either distributed, delivered or mailed 750 kits. The projects that will follow this infusion of color are abstract paintings about music, experimental abstract paintings, and cultural self portriats.
You have helped make what is a stressful school year for all a much better experience. There is so much pride in ownership, and your gifts completely level the playing field. We appreciate you so much!”

Funded Mar 20, 2021Thank you so much for the support of our classroom. I am so moved by the commitment of Chevron to make sure there is equity in our classrooms. This project, in combination with other projects funded on donorschoose, allowed me to give each of my 120 painters a watercolor set to use at home, as well as a brush set, sketchbook, and "to go" sets of acrylic paints. This has provided so much poetry and inspiration in a small paint box and we are grateful that each of our students could be given access to the supplies they need so that there is complete equity in the classroom. The students have been thrilled and enjoying the paints as they work through sketches and ideas for their canvases. We so appreciate your support to our program and your confidence in our creative spirits!”

Funded May 31, 2021We have been reading this great book all year! I read it aloud, the students read it quietly, and then we write our reflections on it and discuss it. It's been a central and powerful addition to our classroom culture. Jerry Saltz, the author is so inspiring to any person to start making art and discussing the nature of creativity and creative blocks has been empowering. The students get it, and they even like it. Having a class set of books has been so nice. Students get hooked on the book and take it home and finish it over the weekend. What else could you ask for?! You have provided a great inspiration to us and we thank you for it!”

Funded Aug 11, 2021Thanks to you, we have had a wonderful year of painting, despite all the challenges of living through a pandemic. Your gift of paints (and many other donorschoose projects combined) has allowed me to give each of my 120 painting students a watercolor and brush sets, a sketchbook, and access to all the materials they need in class to create about 10 canvases each. We have "togo" paint sets for after hours too. For our students, knowing that each of them has equity in materials and access to the same supplies is so important. It allows them to create without a sense of scarcity, and it's so empowering. Your gift is so powerful. We appreciate your generosity and your confidence in us!”

Funded Aug 13, 2021Considering all the Covid-19 anxiety, it's been a great year for art in the classroom. I have 120 painting students, and thanks to you and the support of donorschoose, I was able to give each one of them a watercolor paint set, a brush set, a sketchbook, and everything they needed to paint about 10 canvases in class. Our donors helped us make "togo kits" too if students wanted to paint at home. It's been so helpful, because of limits on contact time and after school activities that we have previously counted on.
Your gift helped make sure everybody had what they needed all year and a set of nice brushes to use at home or in school. It's a small thing, but so helpful for our students to make sure they all have quality materials, and that they are all able to express themselves without lack of tools or materials. We so appreciate your generosity!”

Funded Aug 20, 2021Thanks to you, we have had an amazing year.
Paints to go has been such a fantastic project for my students! All year long I have been able to give students the things they need to take their work home and create. Covid 19 has given us less after school contact time and giving the students the ability to transport their supplies in "togo containers" and "pee cups" has been so great. I was also able through a number of donorschoose grants to give each of my 120 painting students a travel set of watercolors and a small set of brushes. This lets students plan and make at home without much mess or fuss. It means so much to them, and honestly, because of you I am almost always able to say, Yes! When they ask me for something. It makes such a difference for all our students, but especially the low income students. Thanks for making this another great year of paintings and creativity!”
