Tie Dye Trip Shirts
Funded Dec 18, 2023Thanks for your donation to my project, Tie Dye Trip Shirts. We were able to create a fun image and Cricut it onto all the shirts for every Kindergartener in the school. They each got to tie-dye their own shirt. It was such a fun experience!
It was so nice to see all the students wearing the shirts together and they were so excited that they got to keep the shirts!
Many of my students' families struggle financially and need assistance when it comes to basic necessities. It is a really good feeling to give them something so nice and vibrant that celebrates this super special year of school.
Thanks again for your contribution.”

Funded Jun 14, 2022This project was a very fun project to get funded. We were able to provide all of our kindergarten graduates with a backpack full of goodies for the summer. They were so excited to receive these gifts! Many of them walked away from graduation with the cool new sunglasses on!
We were so happy to supply the kids with books and art materials for them to use over the summer. I had one student draw a beautiful portrait of the class using the "More than Peach' crayons of the world showing the awesome diversity in our classroom.
Thanks again for your contribution.”

Funded Mar 10, 2021Thank you so much for your donation to my recent Donor's Choose project. With your help, I was able to order a slew of materials for my remote kindergartners in the South Bronx. I created home-learning packets filled with art, literacy and math tools.
When I showed the students what they were going to be getting- they were so excited! One wanted to stop our zoom meeting and run to the school that minute to pick it up!
We are about to start our unit on 2D and 3D shapes. The mini geo-boards are going to be so much fun for the students when creating their own triangles, squares and hexagons! The playdough and straws that were purchased with be used to make the lines and vertices of the shapes. Such great hands-on materials will really help the students get immersed in the learning.
Your donation also helped to purchase a document camera to help my online lessons. I have recently used it to read books, tell a story with felt characters and to show proper handwriting and grip.
Thanks once again for your contribution!”

'Spring'ing With Supplies
Funded May 20, 2014Hi everyone! I have a vivid memory of sending out this thank you note, but the website knows all and is telling me that I never did (6 years ago!) I am very thankful for your contribution to my classroom supply list.
With your help, I was able to purchase materials that put a smile of the face of my students. I purchased a listening center with which children can listen to Audio Books. Several audio books were also purchased. I love seeing their faces as they listen to a book from our awesome audio book collection.
I know it must seem like a distant memory but thanks again for your support. My students are still benefitting from your generous donation.”

Funded May 15, 2020Thank you so much for contributing to my project. Because of you, I was able to supply my students with materials that they may not have had access to at home. They were supplied with not only basic classroom materials but also fun games to help promote learning while having fun!
I was able to deliver the boxes to the students in May. For many of them, it was their first time outside of their apartments since the pandemic forced us in. It was really hard not to hug them- so we did some fancy toe tapping to express our love.
Thank you for giving them this opportunity.”

Funded May 11, 2019Sorry for the delay in this response... You know how the beginning of the school year goes! You blink and it's Thanksgiving! My students love their alternative seating choices. They love bouncing on the Bubble Chairs. They are just the right height for the students to sit comfortably and bounce a bit while reading or writing. The Wobble Bhairs have proved to be very functional as they are very light and the kids pick them up and bring them to their different tables for their differentiated learning groups. I have found that the students who have a difficult time sitting in standard chairs are able to sit longer, growing their ability to sit longer and focus on their work. When I move the chairs around, the students are very excited to find out they get to sit in a 'special chair.' Thank you for your contribution to this project. My students and I are very grateful!”

Funded Aug 31, 2018Thank you so much for donating to my project. With your help I was able to purchase an iPad and an Amazon tablet for my classroom.
We have been busy exploring the literacy and math games I downloaded. Students are working on fluency in reading and they practice these through sight word games and visual books. Students who are struggling to learn their letters and sounds are able to have targeted instruction in which they can press the letter and hear the sound it makes.
Bringing technology into the classroom is very impactful for the student in the community I work in. Many students do not have computers at home. When given the opportunity to play educational games students have so much fun they don't even realize they are learning!!
I said to my students that we got these iPads as a gift. They were so appreciative and yelled out 'Thank you!' So thank you!!”

Funded Feb 18, 2014Thank you so much for your contribution to my 'Bronx Bookworms' project. The children were so thrilled with the brand new books. "This is the best book ever!" Arianna (6 years old) told me the day I introduced the books to the class. We have been using the new books to read with reading buddies (pictured.) The experience of shared reading brings reading to a new level. The children help each other decode and recently they have been asking each other prompting questions to really dig deep into the texts!
We have been using the 'Beginning, Middle and Ending Sound Stampers' and the 'Build-a-Word Puzzles' during our small group literacy time. The children love stamping the pictures and trying to figure out the missing letters. In the class, there are some students who really need to work on beginning sounds and others that need to focus more on ending and middle sounds. The stampers help to differentiate the targeted learning groups. The children work diligently and are excited to show off their accomplishments.
There is nothing more thrilling than seeing the growth of a student. To see a child learn something before my very eyes, that eureka moment, is one of the reasons I decided to become a teacher. It give me such pleasure to know that these children, who may not have much at home, have a place to go with such enriching materials that they are incredibly motivated to learn. It is with deepest gratitude that we thank you! THANKS SO MUCH!”
