  • Literature in a Diverse Population

    Funded Jul 30, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity on this project!! My students will be so excited to start off a new school year with so many wonderful new books to read! You are all amazing, and have made a big difference to so many 7-8 year olds who will now be able to see themselves as leaders, authors, judges, scientists, and even more importantly: main characters in a story!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.

  • Technology for Future Coders

    Funded Apr 20, 2018

Thank you so much for your amazing generosity! The iPads are so used for so many games and activities in my classroom. The Osmo games are an absolute favorite for my students right now! They love being able to work on math problems and coding skills.

The flexible seating will also help so much, as they love to be able to work around the room and collaborate with each other or have quiet areas for independent work.

You have made a huge difference to the second graders!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.

  • Guided Reading Books to Foster a Love of Reading!

    Funded Mar 10, 2017

Your donations helped purchase some exciting new books! Reading can get boring quickly when you only have a few choices at your reading level. Especially when most of the books that are available are in the mid levels.

Many of my students are new to the English language, and need exciting books at lower levels. Then there are my students that are above grade level, and want some exciting big books to read. These new sets of books allow students to read fun books with a group of students that are at the same level, and have discussions about the book. This increases their fluency in English, especially when it comes to academic language.

Thank you for helping make reading fun in the second grade!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.

  • Full STEAM Ahead!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thankyou so much for all that you have done to help our classroom! My students are excited to up their STEAM and coding skills! The books will mean so much to my students in seeing people they relate to paving the way as leaders, and in STEAM fields. This is definitely the #BestSchoolDay ever!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.

  • Stability Balls to Improve Attention Spans

    Funded Sep 21, 2016

Thank-you for making a difference in my student's lives. The students were so excited when they found out we were getting stability balls, and they said "this is the best class ever!" Focus has already increased, and the distractions in the room have dropped immensely. Previously every time a student would start fidgeting around in their seat, the chair would scrape across the floor, and students would turn their attention their attention to the movement. Now fidgeting is quieter, and productive. They especially love when they get "ten seconds of bounce time," and get to let their energy out before a lesson. Thank-you for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.

My students have different factors that make it difficult for them to remain seated; from ADHD to the effects of shaken baby syndrome. They want to be up and moving around, but when they are they can't focus, and they distract other students in the class as well. By using stability balls, students would be able to wiggle and move freely, within the realistic restrictions of their desk space. This will allow the students to be able to move, wiggle, and get their excess energy out, but also be able to focus at the same time, without having to get up and wander around the classroom.
