Booked and Busy Having Fun Reading!
Funded Mar 16, 2021I am so thankful for your generosity and dedication to getting books to our students!
The stories will elevate our learning and bring a new level of enjoyment during reading. My students have already had the opportunity to enjoy these books at the end of the school year, and they loved learning and exploring new authors and new stories.
In our classroom, these books will be used in all areas of learning, from stations to interactive lessons. I look forward to utilizing these inclusive and diverse books as mentor texts throughout the school year. My first graders immediately began to make connections with the stories and characters.
So far, the Elephant and Piggie books have been the class favorite. My students have enjoyed selecting and reading a variety of books. I am so excited to continue to incorporate these stories into our everyday read alouds and lessons. These are books my students will enjoy for many, many years to come. Thank you so much again for your generosity and dedication to our student's education. I look forward to the many ways my students will connect to these stories!”

Funded Jan 6, 2020Thank you so much for the incredibly kind donations. My students have the opportunity to take their learning even further with these Math Manipulatives! Our math time will be more hands on from individual practice to whole group.
Due to the circumstances, we were not able to open our math racks, but students spent plenty of time enjoying and using the coins! Because of your kindness, our class was able to use the plastic coins for our coin unit! They loved learning and being able to hold the different coins so we can identify the differences between the coins. Not only did you support my first group of first graders, but your donations will be supporting the next groups of first graders!
Thank you again for you kindness and for supporting our students. They were overjoyed and excited to have more opportunities to be hands on with their learning. They loved having more options to enhance their learning. Thank you for supporting the many students that will come into our classroom! I can't wait for the next class to come and see the generosity and kindness you gifted us with. Thank you for your donations and support!”

Funded Jul 20, 2019The flexible seating in the classroom has worked wonders for my students! I have a lot of active students who need a way to get out their energy throughout the day. The exercise ball chairs serve as a great way for students to get out their energy in small bounces while they are still engaged. The students also love to rotate the cushions amongst each other so they get a turn.
We don't utilize the chairs for a specific project because we use it all the time! However, I love how creative my students are and how they change the flexible seating to fit their needs. I have students who like to sit on the floor with the cushions but also love to sit on the cushions while using a chair. The exercise ball chairs are also great chairs for literacy stations. In their writing station, they use the chairs to help them focus on their writing, they move them around to also help each other out throughout the classroom.
The next steps in using our chairs is to expand how often we use them! We have eased our way into these chairs since it is my students first time being exposed to flexible seating. As they grow more comfortable with the chairs, we have found new ways to use them in our lessons and learnings. Thank you for the opportunity to expose my students to new ways of learnings, fun, and engagement. We are excited to see how much more our flexible seating helps us! Thank you!”

Funded Jul 19, 2019I would like to begin by saying thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. My students are over the moon about their classroom supplies. They are always so excited when I get the big Crayola boxes out. We recently made signs for the high school football team to cheer them on and they were excited to get the marker box out! We have also did a paper of "What Ms. Martinez should be for Halloween." The students loved decorating me in all types of costumes and writing their two reasons why they believe I should be their chosen costume.
When they first received their supplies, my kiddos were so excited to say the least! They were thrilled to see so many colors, erasers, and glue. The pencil boxes especially served my students well. In my school district, not every student has supplies at home. I was able to label the pencil boxes with their names and send home their very own supplies. Some tell me they even share with their brothers and sisters! Your impact goes beyond the four walls of our classroom but extends into their lives at home.
The next steps are to continue to use the supplies to extend the students' learning. We are currently working on Thanksgiving projects including "Thankful Turkeys." We are also in the process of learning parts of speech. I am excited to do "Noun Town" with my students and to pull out all of the supplies for them! Thank you so much for your donation. I am excited for you to see their thank you notes and photos of them learning! Thank you!”

Funded Aug 7, 2019Wow! This rug is really the comfiest rug of all! The students absolutely love and adore this rug and spend a large amount of time on this rug learning and collaborating. We love to use this rug for math especially. We use the squares as ten frames that proved to be especially helpful during out place value unit and when we add and subtract. We play a game called, "On the Bus," where we put chairs in the squares and we create math problems to see how many friends climb on and off the bus. The students love to also love to practice their calm breathing on this carpet. We put on a video after lunch to calm our bodies and prepare us for the second half of the day. They love having their own space!
When I first revealed the carpet, they were so excited to see it! They became even more excited when I gave them their own square. I am able to switch students around as needed in order to provide the best educational experience possible. From the first day the students walked into the classroom they have absolutely loved to learn on the carpet!
The next steps include more collaboration on the carpet. The students have been utilizing the carpet more in their math and literacy stations and a gathering area to work. We will also continue to have thought provoking and engaging lessons through all content areas. We have recently been planting strawberries in our garden and were able to first interact with our plants on this carpet. I am excited to see how this carpet not only serves as a place for learning but also for fun and exciting projects. Thank you!”
