  • Hands-On Learning: Cricut and Craft Supplies for Exploration

    Funded Nov 27, 2024

We are beyond grateful for your generosity in supporting our project to acquire Cricut machine materials! When our students found out that we had received the supplies, they were absolutely delighted. Thanks to your kindness, we have been able to take our creativity to the next level, making customized art that brings both joy and new learning experiences into our classroom.

So far, we have used the Cricut to design and create personalized tote bags featuring students' names and their club logos—an exciting and meaningful project that gave students a sense of ownership and pride in their work. We also used the materials to craft decorations for our spring bulletin board, adding a vibrant and artistic touch to our classroom environment. These projects have not only been fun but have also encouraged students to express themselves through design.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue using the Cricut for even more creative projects. We plan to incorporate it into our upcoming scrapbooking activities and to create handmade thank-you cards for teachers at the end of the year. With these new materials, our students have endless possibilities to explore their artistic abilities and put their ideas into action.

We truly appreciate each and every donor who contributed to this project. Your kindness has made a lasting impact on our students, and we can't wait to share all the exciting projects we will continue to create. Thank you for believing in our students and for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

  • Rewards For Graduating 8th Graders

    Funded May 7, 2024

On behalf of our graduating 8th graders, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generosity in making their graduation celebration even more special. Your support provided them with thoughtful and meaningful rewards, and their reactions were priceless—they were truly surprised and so grateful upon receiving their gifts.

Each student received a graduation cap filled with candy, pens for signing yearbooks, a keychain with their graduation year, and a pair of sunglasses. These tokens of appreciation were more than just gifts; they were symbols of their hard work, growth, and achievements throughout their middle school journey. It was incredible to see the joy on their faces as they unwrapped these surprises, and many of them immediately put on their sunglasses, proudly displayed their keychains, and began signing each other's yearbooks with their new pens.

This class of 8th graders has worked incredibly hard throughout the year, dedicating themselves to improving their reading, writing, and presentation skills. They have tackled complex texts, strengthened their ability to express themselves through writing, and built confidence in public speaking. Whether it was through class discussions, projects, or presentations, they continuously pushed themselves to grow as learners and communicators. These rewards were a small but meaningful way to recognize their efforts and celebrate their accomplishments.

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Your support means the world to our students and our school community. We truly appreciate you!”

  • Engaging Literature For English Language Learners

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Thank you so much for your support in providing books for our English language learners! Your generosity has made a meaningful impact in our classroom, allowing our students to engage with literature in ways that support their language development and critical thinking skills.

With these books, we have explored key reading skills such as theme, central idea, inferencing, and using context clues. We've also analyzed mood and tone, deepening our understanding of how authors convey meaning. These books have been invaluable for independent reading and have sparked thoughtful discussions in our book club.

Our students have especially enjoyed the graphic novels, which provide multiple entry points for comprehension, making the stories more accessible and engaging for emerging readers. These books have not only helped improve language skills but have also fostered a love for reading among our students.

Thank you again for making this possible. Your support is truly appreciated!”

  • Rewards for Graduating 8th Graders

    Funded May 31, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity and support. Students loved their end of the year gifts. We were so happy to be able to give students these gifts to reward them for their hard work all year.

Students were given their end of year gifts during our end of the year celebration. They were elated to see they each were given a goodie bag filled with graduation trinkets and pens. Without your help, this would have not been possible. It means so much to us to be able to go the extra mile to show students how proud we are of their accomplishments.”

  • Social Emotional Learning Resources

    Funded Jan 19, 2023

The material we were able to purchase thanks to donors like you have made a huge impact in our class. We have used the games, arts and crafts materials and school materials. For the firs few months students were using the same worn out materials that they've had since sixth grade. The students were so excited to see new games added to our collection.

We used these games during our social emotional learning periods where students get down time to play with their friends and unwind from a heavy math or ELA day. We also implemented brain breaks using the games during our test prep unit. Students played games in between periods to help them destress while applying critical thinking skills to the game.

We've completed a few arts and crafts projects, including an art project created for our classroom door. Students outlined their hands to create a flower made of everyones hands with images that symbolized their identities.

We couldn't have done any of this without supporters like you.”

    With gratitude,

  • Social Emotional Learning for Middle Schoolers in New York City

    Funded Nov 10, 2022

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your generosity. My students have had so much fun creating arts and crafts, playing games and using mindfulness tools. We recently created holiday cards and Christmas tree ornaments using the wooden chips we ordered. Students also painted original pieces using the canvases and brushes we received.

Students have also been journaling lately, which has proved to be very effective in managing emotions and having fruitful discussions about mental health. . Since students do not get any art time in the school day, they always look forward to coming to after school. We even have more students joining on a weekly basis! We cannot wait to use everything you've helped us purchase. We hope you enjoy the holiday season.”

  • Support Students Through Distance Learning

    Funded May 6, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to "Support Students Through Distance Learning!"

With your donation we were able to purchase books, art supplies and games for students during the first few months of quarantine. During this time, students were struggling to stay motivated due to social isolation, the pandemic and a sudden change in their lifestyle. These resources helped students through some of the toughest times in their academic careers. Your support is greatly appreciated by our students as it helped us to supplement our curriculum and provide additional educational experiences for them.”

Our classroom currently has outdated laptops that do not work efficiently. Many of the laptop batteries are not in working condition or only work while the laptop is plugged into an outlet, which does not account for the laptops that just do not work. Unfortunately the poor array of laptops means that my class of thirty-five students cannot have a working laptop to work effectively on classwork. Asking other colleagues to borrow laptops is not a great solution if they also experience the same concerns. There is no money in the budget to fix, replace or purchase laptops for my classroom. Luckily, these ten Chromebooks would help my students maximize the use of our forty-five minute period blocks to read a wide array of fictional or non-fictional texts and write expository essays.
