  • Epson, Will You Help Me Publish My Writing?

    Funded Mar 27, 2013

Your support has played a key role in our success in getting my students the tools necessary to publish their writing. There is no way to fully express our gratitude. My students and I are continually inspired by the dedication and generosity of donors like yourself who answer the call to give again and again.

My students are so excited to finally use the Epson printer to publish their stories as well as the communication center to keep their stories for other students or parents to read.

From the bottom of our hearts thank you again for all your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martinez

  • We Are All Human Living in a Small World

    Funded Feb 27, 2013

On behalf of my student thank you so much for your donations. We were able to receive our Disneyland Park tickets and our Disneyland gift cards. As you know most of my students come from under-privilege homes and often don't get the opportunity to venture out of their community.

With your donation we were able to take our students to Disneyland and meet people from all over the world firsthand. They were able to hear announcements in English, Spanish, and Japanese. As well as listen to people speaking in Chinese and French. And interact with people with different accents and looks. They were able to see that there is more out there than their neighborhood. Most importantly learn about diversity.

When we received the Disneyland tickets 90% of my students told me they had never been to Disneyland. They were so excited they could hardly wait to go. It was an eye-opener to them to see that only an hour away from their homes they would encounter so many people with different cultures, beliefs, and customs.

Thank you again for the wonderful opportunity you gave my 22 first graders.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martinez

Your assistance means so much to me, but even more to my first grade students. Thank you from all of us.”

Our children will face many monetary issues in the future that we did not have to face, for example, sky-high collage costs. Thanks to your generosity, 24 students and many more in the future will receive the foundations of financial literacy. With the ipads that we received I was able make learning finance cool for my students.

Your commitment to helping students in our community learn about diversity is sincerely appreciated. • Team Up and Fight Back Against Bullying!

    Funded Feb 17, 2012

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your donations. Researching and learning about bullying has been a huge success in my class, due in part to your help. The kindles have helped my students look through different scenarios on bullying and decide what is the best way to deal with the bullying situation. Therefore applying what they have learned.

  • Assisting English Language Learners Develop Language Skills

    Funded Jan 31, 2012

On behalf of my students I would like to thank you for your generous donations. Your commitment to helping children in our community is sincerely appreciated. Your generosity is making an immediate difference in the lives of my students.

In an extremely competitive world, we want the best technology tools in our classrooms; technology that will offer great advantages for our students. That is exactly what you all brought to my classroom. The overhead projector and document camera are being used during story time to engage my students in the reading and have the opportunity to see and hear the words being read to them. It has also provided a great opportunity for my students to share their "publish" stories, while gaining confidence and fluency in their oral English Language. My students love to come up to the document camera and see their work display for the class. Also learning new vocabulary has become a fun activity for my students. They enjoy looking at images on the document camera and having class discussions about these.

Vocabulary is a useful and essential tool for communication and acquiring knowledge. Acquiring an extensive vocabulary is one of the biggest challenges for English Language Learners but thanks to your generosity you have made learning a second language easier and engaging for my students. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martinez

My students are first graders attending a school located in a low socioeconomic area in Los Angeles. They are in a dual language class in which they are learning two languages at the same time. There are 15 boys and 7 girls between the ages of 6 and 7. My students are full of energy and are eager to learn new concepts every day even though a lot of times, because of economic hardship, their parents have two jobs to be able to support their family. Many parents are lacking time to spend with children and talk to them about the importance of education.
