  • Keeping Clean: Providing Personal Hygiene Essentials for Students

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous support to make this project become a reality! During the beginning of the year, I shared the personal hygiene station with my students and described the items that are available to students, that they are available to everyone whenever they may need it!

Students were excited and relieved to have hygiene products available to them throughout the day. When I am in class, students will pop in and grab something they need (such as deodorant/feminine hygiene products) or during class they are able to walk right over and grab any items they need. It is also great to have for simple items such as band-aids and hair ties which students ask for daily.

The next step is to continue to support and provide hygiene products for students who may need it. Some of the items (shampoo, conditioner, soap bars) are not as frequently used by students but they are great to have in case a student needs those items. I also have provided mesh bags so if a student needs a few items that they may need to take home they are able to take as much as they need, no questions asked.

Again, thank you for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martin

  • Forensic Science Library : Crack the Cases

    Funded Aug 6, 2023

Your generous donations have greatly impacted my classroom! Students in my forensics class have been engaging in reading their books every Friday since September. Students will be completing a brief presentation coming up in December to highlight their book, the involved case, and how their book relates to the things we have been discussing in class.

Students were able to self select the book they wanted to read based on what is interesting to them! A lot of my students are particularly interested in reading the books based on serial killers as many of them have watched documentaries involving serial killers such as Ted Bundy. My students are also interested in reading about two specific serial killers that have ties to Chicago (as the school is located in Chicago).

Students are enjoying these books and are engaged in reading every week! Not only is reading beneficial to student literacy and growth, but it also allows students to have a little bit of down time toward the end of the week while also engaging in an activity that is beneficial to their own success!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martin
