Incentives for Learning
Funded May 8, 2025Thank you so much for your support of our classroom! These incentives will help get the students motivated to do their best! It is not easy to get teenagers excited about anything in school, but this will feel like Christmas morning when they arrive. I am excited to share them with the class and see their results. Thanks again!”

Funded Dec 30, 2023Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! My students showed an increase in interest, participation, and achievement when I showed them the snacks. I used them to reward the students for achieving an 80% or higher on a recent assessment about the hydrologic cycle. I had students that would normally give up after a first attempt, try again in order to improve their score. There were some who after achieving 80%, asked to try again to get a 100%.
After analyzing the data, I noticed I had more students achieve an 80% or higher than on previous assessments! Food is a great motivator and it definitely worked. Thank you again for your support.”

Science Classroom Supplies
Funded Dec 7, 2022Thank you so much for the cleaning supplies. We received paper towels, Lysol wipes, soap, a broom, and a dust pan.
The students use the wipes to clean the tables. We use the paper towels to clean up spills and for science experiments. The broom and dust pan come in handy for keeping our floor crumb free. I have also shared supplies with other teachers. We are keeping our students healthy by keeping the desk and chairs wiped down and sanitary.
We appreciate your contribution to our classroom.”

Funded Oct 26, 2022The students love their ear buds! Students are able to watch educational videos without disturbing their neighbor. Some students work well while listening to music and they have enjoyed being able to have ear buds. Our classroom is generally quieter. Being a school without walls and doors can be challenging. However, the ear buds have helped reduce the noisy videos coming from our classroom. My colleagues have also commented how the earbuds have helped in their classrooms as well. Thank you again for your donation and heling us improve our school!”

Earth Science Vocab Cards
Funded Oct 5, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity! The students have completed their first set of flashcards for their upcoming test on Astronomy. For many students, this was the first time they created content related flash cards. I had a prepared list of words and definitions for them to use. Some did not know that the word goes on the front and the definition is placed on the back. After we corrected that mistake, they completed the rest of their cards using markers and colorful illustrations.
The students have learned a helpful study skill that they can use the rest of their life! Thanks again for contributing to our classroom.”

Funded Mar 25, 2022The headphones have been a life saver! The students are enjoying listening to music through their headphones during free time or independent work time. Students have been able to actively engage in their assignments in Google Classroom. The students are able to hear videos and lessons clearly through their headphones. Also, my students who have to be home due to quarantine have been able to join our classroom live. They listen to my instruction through their headphones.
Thanks again for helping us improve our classroom learning experiences!”

Build Our Personal Library
Funded Feb 9, 2022My students absolutely love 'The New Kid'! We have an independent silent reading time everyday. When we first started our silent reading, we struggled to find interesting books. After introducing them to this book, many of them read it daily. I even have a few students who have already finished it!
My students are more engaged during silent reading and we are seeing improvement in their reading comprehension. Thank you so much for your contribution to this project. You have helped instill a love of reading in my students that I know will last a long time!”

Funded Nov 30, 2021My students have really enjoyed connecting to the stories in the Flying Lessons book. They have written personal reflections about some of the stories.
Here is one of the writing prompts a student responded to after reading story number 3, Sol Painting, Inc.
-Tell me about a time when someone made you angry. How did you respond? If you could go back to that incident, would you change anything?
-One time someone made me angry and I had gotten really mad but when I walked away I was calming down and I just took a deep breath in and out and I just mind my business And then we became best friends.
My students are using the stories in the book to help them write their own personal narratives. Thank you so much for your generous donation. We would not be able to have these rich discussions without this great book!”

Funded Aug 23, 2021My students have enjoyed reading these books! They love the topics and seeing themselves in the stories. We have used the books during our independent reading time. They are able to read quietly for longer periods of time. The students have responded to journal prompts based on their feelings when they are reading. They have also asked to take books home and read them. The students are also reading books to each other and younger students in other classrooms. Thank you so much for inspiring my class to read!”

Funded Feb 15, 2019We had an amazing trip yesterday! Our students thoroughly enjoyed themselves from the time we left school until the moment we returned. On the bus ride to the caverns, some of the students had never seen mountains before. They pointed them out and took photos. Once we arrived inside the caverns, I loved hearing the oohs and ahhs as they got their first look at the stalactites and stalagmites. The students enjoyed seeing dream lake with it's perfect mirror reflection. They felt tiny when we entered giant's hall. They were even a little scared of Pluto's ghost. By the time we reached the gift shop they were tired, but still excited enough to enjoy all the trinkets. On the return trip home, the chatted with their friends about their favorite parts of the trip and how they wish they could return to the caverns one day. Many of them have been inspired to continue studying rocks in the future. Thank you so much for helping our students create this memory!”
