Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Everyday students have a decision to make. As soon as they walk in to the classroom their learning and success is in their hands. They decide what place in the classroom will push them to be their best. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as; the floor, the kidney table, and small floor tables. I cannot describe the amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. Empowering students with this choice students are are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. My students are considerably more engaged and enthusiastic in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to get their work done. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The Zenergy Ball are an alternative sitting to a chair, without the effects of sitting for a long time. This alternative seating has also been studied to help with posture and stability to increase concentration. This is a must for an hour long math class! I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and attitude toward learning. I hope these resources will motivate them to become scholars and prepared citizens of our society.
