• Celebrating the Lunar New Year

  Thank you so very much for the donation. We truly appreciate it. My students (pre-k)

  and a fourth grade class teamed up to learn about and celebrate Chinese New Year together. At the end of our study, both classes celebrated with a Chinese New Year party. Our students had lucky Chinese foods. They ate with chopsticks. They talked about what they had learned and they made scrolls to hang up in their homes. The best gift that these students received was a book titled "My First Chinese New Year (My First Holiday)". My students learned so many things from this book. The students used their books to aid them in teaching their families all about what they had learned.

  My students and I love celebrating everything. And as a teacher, I try to make learning as fun and exciting for my students as I possibly can. My students are still talking about what they learned and did to celebrate the lunar new year.

• Our Calming Corner

  Thank you so very much for your generous donation. Because of you and your donation, we were able to add some calming items to our classroom. My favorite item is the aquarium lamp. My students love it.

  This lamp is used as part of our calming area for those times when students are upset, stressed or just want a quiet area. Our aquarium lamp is the perfect thing to help settle my students down. Some of my students enjoy just sitting in front of the lamp and watching the bubbles and fish dancing around. I love having interesting items in my classroom and our aquarium lamp would definitely fall into that category.”

• Learning About the Lunar New Year

My students are still talking about what they learned and did to celebrate the lunar new year.

• Hopping Into Fitness

  Thank you so very much for the donation. We truly appreciate it. My students received their hoppy balls on the last day of school before winter break. My co-worker and I wanted to give our students something to keep them physically active. We didn't want our students to spend their winter break doing nothing but watching tv, playing games,

  and on tablets.

  My students were so excited when they came into the classroom. They entered the classroom and saw 18 hoppy balls of various bright colors. They were beyond excited to receive this gift. They love their hoppy balls. They are still using and loving their hoppy balls.

• Supporting Our Classroom

  I am so appreciative of you taking an interest in my students and classroom. Teaching in a pre-k class, we are always focusing on keeping our room sanitized and fighting germs. This DonorsChoose project was specifically for hand soap, tissues, Lysol wipes, Lysol spray and sanitizer. We are constantly running out of these items and it costs a small fortune to keep these items stocked in our classroom. We are constantly sanitizing tables, toys, the bathroom, etc. and our students are constantly using tissues for those runny noses and sanitizer for those hands.

  Thank you for helping us to keep those cleaning items in stock so that we can focus on teaching and learning.”

• Happy Holidays

  Funded Nov 29, 2023

  Thank you so very much for your donation. My students were so excited to receive our holiday materials. We used those holiday materials to create and enjoy holiday activities such as using the stretch canvases to create holiday snow pictures and the pine cones to create mini holiday trees.

  We celebrated the holidays by being creative through art. My students totally enjoyed being able to express their creativity. They were being festive and enjoying the holiday spirit as they were painting and creating. My students were able to display their work in the classroom and the hallway so that those who attend our school could see their beautiful work.”

• Bouncing Into Fitness

  Thank you so very much for your donation! We wanted to provide our pre-k students with a holiday gift and we wanted that gift to be something that our students could use to improve their physical health. Hoppy balls was what we decided that we wanted to give to them.

  We are hopping into fitness and having fun! My students were so excited when they entered the classroom and saw all of the different colors of hoppy balls. They were able to pick a color that they liked and they hopped around the classroom, listening to their favorite songs, while laughing with their friends. Our holiday break was two weeks and most of my students did spend some of that time being active on their hoppy balls instead of being inside on tablets and phones. Again, thank you so very much for your donation so that we could provide our students with this awesome gift.”

• Celebrating Lunar New Year

  Thank you so much for your donations to our project. Our students were able to learn about Chinese New Year in an exciting way. They learned about many customs of celebrating Chinese New Year.

  At the end of our lesson, we celebrated by having a Chinese New Year party. The students learned about lucky colors, foods and activities done to celebrate the new year. Not only did the students have a delicious meal, but they were able to tell the importance of those foods such as eating noodles long for a long life and eating apples and oranges for good luck. • My Name Begins With...

  Funded Apr 9, 2023

  My students have really been enjoying those resources that were purchased for them. My students love creating new things and exploring with art materials. My students have been learning about autumn, the weather, the falling leaves and the beautiful colors. My students created beautiful pictures of fall trees painted on a canvas. They used the resources that were provided through DonorsChoose. For our next project, we will be using wooden letters. Each student will be given the first letter in their name to decorate.
