  • Let's Get This Party Started!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations to get my new art classroom started off in the right direction. This is my first year at this school, and they have not had an art teacher for ten years, so all the students in the school, grades PreK-8th are having art class for the first time. We have been exploring so many different materials and skills, and really stretching our creative muscles. It has been amazing watching the students grow and create artwork that they are proud of. The other adults in the building also can't stop commenting on how great it is to see the hallways full of their creative projects. While we haven't had a chance to use all the supplies yet, we definitely will be before the year is over. We used the cardboard scissors and paint paletts for our Picasso inspired cardboard portraits, which were a HUGE hit. On that note, the microfiber cleaning cloths have been extremely helpful for cleaning up our messes when painting and glueing. The laminating sheets are helping to have long lasting drawing handouts that will be used for years to come, and the first graders used the ink pads to create shape stamped cityscapes in our shapes/architecture study. And the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card is a game changer for building my lesson library, since this is my frist year teaching art. Thank you SO MUCH for your help, and have a happy new year.”

  • Scholars Love Scholastic Magazine

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your kind donations. I know it's been almost a year since you donated to my classroom for the Scholastic Magazines. I didn't realize when I wrote the grant that the magazines wouldn't be coming until the following school year. But that's ok! This year I am teaching 5th and 6th grade reading, so even more students and grade levels are able to utilize these magazines thanks to you. Scholastic Storyworks is a great magazine because every issue includes interesting stories from all different genres, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, opinion stories, and nonfiction. The students love them. Thanks for all that you have done for my classroom in the last year.”

  • Colorful Paint Projects

    Funded Jan 16, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom art project! I'm so sorry for the delayed update. We completed this project in May, but my mother passed a week later, so I was delayed in sending this out. My students LOVED this project, and many of them have updated me this school year that they still have their clay cups they painted, or that they gave them away as gifts to family members. I am definitely going to repeat this project again this year using the supplies you helped us purchase. Your help is going to help my students for years to come. Thanks for your continued support.”

  • Sharp, Organized, and Curious Readers

    Funded Jan 24, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation of pencil sharpeners, colored paper, and science books for our classroom. We loved reading these science themed books for our nonfiction unit. Obviously we use the pencil sharpener daily, a very important daily routine. The pastel paper helps us to keep organized with our weekly handouts. Thank you so much, these supplies will help us for years to come. We could not do this without your help. Thank you for your generous donation and your continued support of our classroom.”

  • Exploring Creativity and Staying Productive in 5th Grade

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for your continued generosity. This project has helped our class immensely. We use the ink for our printer every day. The pastel paper helps us stay organized and keep track of important papers each week. The air dry clay though, was the biggest hit! Our class loved making their own pinch pots. We are very excited to paint them. This art project helped our students really explore their creativity, and make something useful with their own hands that they can keep forever. Thank you for your help, without you this wouldn't have been possible.”

  • A Place for Everything and Everything in It's Place

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you so much for your help this school year. These bins were a lifesaver this year. Our students keep so busy through the class period, doing a variety of tasks, which means they have a large variety of supplies. The bins help limit the amount of items the students have to carry to and from their lockers, since they can be easily stored away in the classroom, and of course help them stay organized. Both classes had so much fun decorating their bins with scrapbook paper, magazine cutouts, drawings and stickers. They are so creative!”

  • Take Online Offline In-Person

    Funded Apr 20, 2021

Wow! It sure has been a while since we had this project funded. I can't even imagine life without the printer that your donation made possible for our class. My 5th grade team partner and I use this printer every day, throughout the day.

With the school being very strict on making copies, this printer is our only way to print or copy anything we need for the class. Whether it is materials for hands on sorting centers, data and testing materials, class lists, letters home to parents, activity sheets or coloring pages, this printer is doing it all.

Thank you again for your generous donation, we couldn't do this without you.”

  • Sharing Words While Learning at Home

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you again for the generous donation to my classroom and my students. As always, words cannot express enough how much your generosity impacts us. This year, since we are learning at home, we have had to use technology in a whole new way. This became very apparent when I tried to read stories aloud to the class. I did not anticipate how difficult it might be to share the pictures with them through the computer camera. While I have always used a document camera in the classroom, to share work, books, or other materials with the projector, I couldn't figure out how to hook it up at home. Also, after 8 years of daily use in the classroom (it was from my first ever donors choose project!) I needed an up grade. We use the new camera still almost daily for all sorts of things, from read alouds, to practicing drawing together (they like to see my paper while I draw also). Thank you for making this year seem a little more normal, and also for the camera that will be a classroom staple even when we are all back in the classroom together.”

  • Students See Themselves in Stories

    Funded Nov 9, 2020

Thank you so much for your continued support to my classroom. Like all years, your support is so necessary for the growth of my students. However as you can imagine, this year has been even more so. We have obviously faced more challenges this year with staying engaged, meeting high expectations and just staying afloat. With the added stress of teaching a new grade level, i was really in need of some new read aloud selections for my class that were more age appropriate. I also wanted to focus on more filling my library with stories that focus on the great black leaders of the past, as well as the events that shaped black life in America. Thank you for making this possible. My students loved reading these books that you helped me provide, and I can't wait to share them with my students for years to come.”

  • Digital Interactive Notebooks

    Funded Oct 19, 2020

Thank you so much for your continued support. I cannot express how thankful I am to have you all, especially this school year. It is because of the super generous donations of my friends and community, that I am able to make it through this school year. Even now, over halfway through this year, most teachers are still working 10-12 hours days to try and stay afloat in this online, or hybrid learning model. I can't even imagine how much more I would be working without your help. Your donations have helped my students keep an online digital student notebook, just as they would have, had we been in person. This is a resource they use daily. Thank you again for your continued support.”

Hi! My name is Lauren Walsh and I teach 5th grade at a public school on the west side of Chicago. My students are eager to learn and make personal connections with peers and teachers. I would like to provide that for my students as much as possible this year, even though we will be learning remotely. I want my students to have everything they need to continue to succeed, even from afar.
