  • Emotional Regulation Tools for our Littlest Learners

    Funded Aug 21, 2024

The students have been working on self regulation when they are having big emotions. We are working with the different games to learn our emotions and ways to calm down. Some students come in hungry and that throws their day off. We have been able to use the snacks as a way to curb hunger pains and be able to get back to work when our bodies are ready.

Helping our littlest learners figure out what emotions they are having and how to cope with them is so detrimental to their daily lives and future education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lutzen-Jabs

  • Technology for Students

    Funded Nov 30, 2023

Thank you SO much for your generous donations of the headphones, computer mice and batteries! The children were extremely excited to be able to use the new materials while they completed their computer programs. They are able to manipulate the different numbers much easier, which had led to less frustration and an increase in academic scores. This is also true with the use of the new headphones. The children are able to focus in on what they are listening to and learning. My low income students are blessed to have so many people supporting them in their education both near and far. Thank you.”

  • First Graders Need to Write, Add, and Subtract

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thanks to your donations, my students have been able to go from not being able to add and subtract to knowing and understanding the concepts. When we received the box of materials, the students were excited to open it. We cut it open and looked at each of the games and learning materials. Since my students mostly come from low income households, they don't get to experience getting new games all of the time. They were elated and the smiles on their faces were priceless! When it is raining outside for recess and the children get to choose what to play with, most of the time they are grabbing these games to play instead of non-academic ones. It is exciting to see the children learn and grow so much while having fun.”

  • Helping Young STEM Learners

    Funded Sep 29, 2016

The children were so excited when they saw the new materials! They wanted to open the boxes immediately and begin to explore with the new items. It was equivalent to a child's face at Christmas - the look of joy on their faces was priceless!

The materials will be used throughout the year on a rotation basis. Each time materials get changed out the children are eager to go and work with the new items. The have been able to shake up the liquid tubes to explore different effects of liquid thickness as well as learning about when two colors mix. They have also explored with shadows and color mixing. The children will be looking at the ramps and different effects items can have on motion with the next set of materials.

The children have also enjoyed the new magnetic board with the shapes. They have been able to recreate books that have been read to them and retell them using the shapes. The children have also been able to connect their world with the shapes and create different things in their environment using the shapes and the magnetic board. In the near future they will be exploring with the magnetic roller coaster and figure out how to make their item move quickly or slowly down the ramp.

It is amazing how much language, material sharing, and idea sharing has been going on since these new materials have been brought into the classroom. These children are really expanding their learning daily with the assistance of these new items.”

    With gratitude,

  • A Spot for Every Child

    Funded Mar 10, 2016

When the children first saw the new rug they were in awe. They found letters in their names and were excited to be able to sit on a letter in their own name. This rug has assisted in classroom management with my little learners because they each have a spot that they can call their own and they are not in anyone else's personal space.

Some of the children have been working during playtime on their letters and using the rug as a resource. They will take objects and place them on the corresponding letter. Another one of my students has a lot of energy and will hop on each letter as he sings his ABC's, which has resulted in him learning many more letters.

This rug has changed things in such a positive way and I look forward to continuing to use it for many years to come.”

  • Help Us Learn and Grow

    Funded Nov 10, 2015

After coming back from winter break the children have been able to really get the most use of these new materials for the classroom. Some of my children who struggled with using their imagination through dramatic play have really come out of their shell with these new clothing items. They are pretending, expanding their vocabulary, making connections from their home lives and solving problems through sharing of the materials.

The children have also loved having the new art easel with the smocks to protect their clothing. They have been able to use their creativity to create different pictures with paint and also try to add words and letters to their pictures. They are so excited to be able to have these materials to explore and learn with.

Thank you for giving these children the opportunity to learn from a variety of different ways. I am excited to show them the sand and the learning cards in the near future.”

  • Learning While Sensory Needs Are Met

    Funded Dec 21, 2014

Thank you for your generous donation! My four-year-old kindergarteners were so excited to see the chairs and use them. Children this age require differentiated seating based on their individual needs. The chewelry chew tubes have been beneficial to the children who tend to chew on their sleeves and put items in their mouths.

Through these wonderful donations I have noticed increased attention with my four year olds because they are able to get some of their sensory needs met with these wonderful materials.”

  • Learning Our ABC's & 123's

    Funded Sep 30, 2014

When the children received the various donated materials they were so excited and thankful! To see the excitement that learning materials can bring to children is priceless.

The resources are being used in small group seminars, workshops, as well as large group seminars. The children are able to practice their letters through the play dough cards and stamps independently along with guidance. The Handwriting Without Tears CDs are used on a daily basis to work on phonemic skills through developmentally appropriate songs and movements.

With the use of these materials, the children have experienced a love of learning through play and manipulation. The children have also learned a lot of their letters and sounds and continue to learn and explore.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lutzen-Jabs
