  • Headphones for Reading Readiness

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

In class V30 we use many apps to help students reinforce the lessons they have learned in all subject areas. We use IXL for math skills, Lexia for reading and Google Classroom for student homework.

The headphones helps the students in many ways. First, it lets students block out classroom noise. People come in and out of the class to pick up and drop off students for related services. This can be a problem for students who are easily distracted. The headphones help to keep the outside noise from hindering the learning process. The headphones are also helpful for students who are finished early and can independently utilize a learning app on their own when the rest of the class is still doing another assignment.

I have seen a big difference in their Lexia reading data since we received the headphones. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts how much we appreciate your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Milito

  • Don't Agonize, Organize!

    Funded Oct 31, 2014

It was amazing seeing my students faces when they walked into class and saw the colorful mail boxes, timers, rolling cart and magnets on the board. Amazon delivered the items the day before and I stayed after to assemble and place everything. They where so excited to choose their mailbox color and use the timers.

The mailboxes are a wonderful way to assist the students in becoming an independent member of the class. They have a responsibility to put their homework folders and anything they would like to hand in to me in the mail box. I let them know it is their responsibility to put their things in the mail box and it is my responsibility to check the mail box. They always make sure that I do my job by asking did I check their box! The timers are extremely useful during individual work. The students know when they need to start their work and the timers give a yellow light warning 5 minutes before the timer goes off. It helps the students to know how much time they have to complete their work.

This projects helped me as a teacher in may ways. The color coded rolling cart helps the kids to have their own draw with the things they need to help them through out the day. The timers keep them on track so I do not have to consistently remind them to stay on task, and the mailboxes have been instrumental in my teaching the students to be responsible for their homework and other important items.

Thank you so much for your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Milito
