  • Learning the Alphabet!

    Thank you again so much for your generous donations to this projects. My students loved getting new materials to use in the classroom and had so much fun exploring the alphabet.

    We use the letter tubs almost every day in the classroom and the students love it. They have improved their letter sound skills and are able to manipulate sounds with the help of these tubs.

    Our next step is diagraphs and I can not wait to use the next set of alphabet tubs with the students to support their phonics goals.”

  • Literacy Grocery Store

    Thank you all for your donations to my project Literacy Grocery store. As a first year teacher it has been extremely difficult finding resources for my students. This donation made it possible for me to introduce different concepts in a new light to my students.

    I have been using these materials in different ways. I first introduced them by teaching them about vegetables and fruits. They were able to see pictures and touch the vegetables and fruits real and fake. This really helped them understand the concepts that I was teaching. I also was able to introduce the concept of money and the students really enjoyed being able to buy goods with the money and the cash registers that were provided.”

In our curriculum, we have lessons on money. We teach our students about the value of money and how to exchange it for goods and services. It would be wonderful to have our students open a grocery store and learn about the value of money! They can use the baskets of food to sell to their customers. They will have so much fun using the magnetic money and cash register to ring up the purchases. Also, they will learn how to combine dollar bills and coins to add up to different values. Our students can be more engaged in learning when the lesson is hands-on and dramatic play is an added bonus. Students can learn to add and subtract money. They can learn to stock the grocery items and work on their fine motor skills. These materials will be able to help my students become college and career ready! The Play & Learn Grocery Store Financial Literacy Kit will be a great resource for my students to work on their vocational skills.
