    Your generosity in supporting

Dribbling Towards Success: Basketball Equipment for Engaged Learning has impacted our students in multiple grades.

Thanks to your generous support, our students now have access to basketball hoops that make physical education and recess more engaging and inclusive! These hoops are not just equipment—they provide opportunities for students to build coordination, teamwork, and confidence.

Your support means so much—Your kindness is making a lasting impact, and we are truly grateful!”

  • I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for 2 Screens

    Funded Feb 24, 2021

Thank you for supporting my project to bring a second screen (monitor) into remote physical education.

The impact has been so much more than I could have ever imagined. Not only am I able to instruct my students I am able to see more of them at one time and focus on those needing more instruction.

Using the 2 screens during zoom classes allowed myself and my co-teacher to play a video, participate/instruct, and at the same time see most of the class working.

Thank you again for making this year the most it could be for the students as well as the teachers.

    Stronger Smarter PE”

  • If We Can't Hear, We Can't Learn!

    Funded Oct 17, 2020

In these times it is important as an educator to be able to reach your students in many ways. When we started using the speaker as planned for outdoor learning the amount of joy on their faces was unbelievable. We are making the best of the current situation. Though in the coming weeks there was a lot of transitioning to other learning plans, and the speaker was able to adapt with us. Moving inside the gymnasium we were able to hook up the speaker to our projector and makeshift projector screen. So now the children were able to still participate in meaningful physical activity even though we could not really move off of our spots are use equipment. thank you so much this speaker has been a life saver for more than just the original ideas.”

    Ms. Lori

  • We Can Do It All: Physical Fitness for Everyone

    Funded Jan 24, 2017

When I first set up the hurdles, the students were psyched. They were so curious as to how we were going to use them. Each grade is doing something a little different with the hurdles. The student's have been using the hurdles as part of their warm up exercises. They are also using them to practice jumping skills. In the near future we will be incorporating them into our track and field unit. The kids love jumping over the hurdles and keep trying to convince me to make them higher.

The sit and reach testers have been used with our 4th grade students as we prepare them for the fitnessgram (physical fitness assessment). They like the idea of being able to see their results right in front of them. During practice, they are determined to better their marks each time by just pushing a bit further.

Each piece of equipment has enabled my student's to build skills and participate in activities. They are more motivated and having FUN while learning.”

  • Fostering Lifelong Fitness and Independence

    Funded Dec 8, 2016

We just received the equipment and put it to work right away. The students are loving the new basketball with the bells inside. When I opened the box and told them what was inside they were ecstatic. We are working on learning to dribble in basketball and the ball with the bell has made it an experience my visually impaired student won't soon forget. He was able to pick up on the skill in a matter of minutes rather than days. He was part of the group he was stoked!

My students will continue to use the adapted equipment with each unit. We will be continuing basketball for 3 weeks and then move on to soccer and volleyball.

My student's expressed gratitude and were very excited when they realized that people they do not even know care about them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lori

  • Kids Just Wanna Have Fun - While Learning in A.P.E.

    Funded Nov 18, 2014

The student's would like to say Thank You to everyone that supported this project because they love the new equipment. The basketball hoops and basketballs were a giant hit. We have extended the basketball unit and use it during Choice Time as well. With limited space, these basketball hoops allow the students to learn and practice actual basketball skills with a high success rate. As per one of the student's "Slam Dunk" Ms. Lori.

The student's have tried the circuit cd but because of the limited space it hasn't been able to be used as much as I would like.

In the neighborhood where P.S. 84 is located soccer is very popular. It was difficult playing soccer because each time a goal was scored or an attempt made; the cones would move. These pop up goals take up such a tiny amount of space and stay in place. The kids love having a "goal" to aim for.

From all my students and myself- again

    Thank You for supporting A.P.E.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lori

My students are AWESOME kids. Each student is an individual but all share the same goal - they want to LEARN. I teach in 2 different schools. At one school I teach students with Autism from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade. They are in inclusion classes where they are given additional support to succeed in a general education setting. At the other school my students are in 6th grade and they are cognitively delayed, visually impaired, and some have physical disabilities too. A.P.E. is held in small groups wherever space permits. Even though their skill set may be limited they want to play most sports and do exercise like their peers. Like i said my students are AWESOME and they always want to PLAY and get stronger.
