  • Incentives and Rewards During Distance Learning

    Funded Dec 30, 2020

Thank you for your generosity in funding this project for my students! The incentives are helping students to work hard and stay motivated during this difficult time. The virtual (MSO) students have showed up to class more and are engaged once they saw the incentives and rewards. This engagement has allowed instruction to soar through the roof.

Teaching both students physically and virtually can be very demanding, challenging, and exhausting. The incentives and rewards have lightened the load somewhat to respark my students interest. When they found out about the materials (giftcards) they were very excited (their faces lit up with joy) and the majority of my students informed me how hard they would work until the end of school. This made my heart smile. Thank you once again!

As the school year comes to a close, and state testing is concluding, I am proud to say my students worked extremely hard and I have the privilege through your generous donations to reward them for their hard work. They are still working hard because the year has not ended and more incentives are to be given. Your kindness helped to shape my students with their grit and persistence!”

  • Researching With Technology

Thank you for allowing my students to have more technology inside the classroom. We have limited desktop computers and some that do not work. This tablet allows us to inside the opportunity for more students to complete projects and simply research their pondering questions.

We thank you again for this opportunity and I hope to bring more technology inside classrooms. Technology opens doors and enhancing their skills. Thank you again!”

  • Fostering a Love for Reading

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

This book allowed us to expand our classroom library and students to interact with the same chapter book with their peers. This particular book exposed them to history and some experiences that students could relate to and gave them a different point of view. Many of students were not able to read about other brown children before as characters and living in poverty.

Reading in my classroom usually is from the textbook and only the stories the district has selected for them to read. Having a class set of chapter books allows me to expose them to reading for a purpose as well as pleasure. The students are exposed to standards and interactive creative projects as well.

All of the students are enjoying the books in our classroom library. They brighten up when they know we are reading a book that is outside of the curriculum. They enjoy turning the pages and completing one chapter and look forward to the next. They are excited about the next book that may enter our classroom. Thank you for putting smiles on all of our faces!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Martin-Chambers

Reading is the foundation to all other subjects. My students have a keen interest in reading but they don't have access to books of various genres. I want to use the iPads so that I can download thousands of books that are linked to their interest. I have a classroom full of students on various grade levels. They can each use the iPads at different times during class to find books on their instructional grade level and books of their interest. Currently reading isn't fun to my students because of the limitations placed not them due to our classroom text. As a lover of reading myself I know that reading can take my students far. I want them to have the same love for reading that I do.
