Clutter? "No" Organized? "Yes"
Funded Sep 7, 2022Thank you for allowing us to have a clean and organized classroom with additional storage for our materials. We use the cleaning supplies daily to sanitize and clean before and after numerous activities.
The cleaning station is now more easily accessible to everyone and everything has a designated space. This makes use and return of materials much easier and contributes to the well oiled machine of the classroom. The paper cutter made is much easier to produce a plethora of class activities and instructional materials. Students also enjoyed seeing labels on various items and stations. They even wanted to label things that do not need labelling with the argument that the labels will help them to spell better. This was just their way of getting to use the label maker more :)
Again, thank you for your generous donation and continued support. We really appreciate you and all that you do.”

Funded Dec 8, 2019On behalf of my scholars and myself, I wish to express my sincerest gratitude for the art cart that your generous donations have purchased for our school. It has filled a huge gap in that we are now able to draw and erase, display, as well as store essential materials.
The cart has been an invaluable tool in class instruction. I am able to write, post, and display information more effectively. The storage bins attached has also made a huge improvement in lessons and activities. I can now effortlessly distribute and collect materials. In fact, due to the cart being on wheels, it is even more beneficial as it can be easily moved to each section of the library for instruction.
I am happy to report that one of our first art activities was exploring the wonderful process of creating pop art. Scholars enjoyed this activity so much that the class decided to make thank you cards for you, our donors, which display their creativity and artistic abilities. They decorated blank postcards with pop art to show both their appreciation, in addition to, their utilization of the cart. The implementation of the art cart has improved my ability to function effectively in the library. The variety of activities that I can offer has increased and will aid in sparking greater creativity in my students. Again, we deeply appreciate what your invaluable donations have done for our school. You have enhanced our library and expanded our instructional ability.”

Funded Mar 15, 2019The scholars and I, in addition to the entire school community wish to express our sincerest gratitude for the library lounge that your generous donations have purchased for our school. My scholars have excitedly reclined on the furniture as they completed group tasks as well as independent reading. I have observed marked improvement in their levels of excitement for visiting the library as well as in their willingness to participate in activities that allows them to split into groups around the library. As expected, they vie for the lounge area and endeavor to be first on line to enter the library so that they can get to these seats. It is heartwarming to watch as they relax and enjoy reading and literacy.
Your invaluable donation has allowed my scholars to feel safer, more comfortable and have greater sense of community building at school as many of their experiences have been in shelters and other transitional housing accommodations. The lounge has hit a personal note with them. It gives them the feeling of home and comfort. In fact, I was almost brought to tears as one of my young scholars remarked that she wishes she could take the sofa home as she doesn't have one at home. I also would like to report that I now have older students who are planning to volunteer during their free time next school year to do read alouds with the kindergartners when they come to the library. For this, I cannot express enough thanks.
The library lounge has also sparked greater responsibility and drive for learning in my students. They ensure that the furniture and general area is kept clean and tidy. They have lively class and group discussions as they comfortably sit and tackle academic tasks and activities. Working in teams has further bonded scholars and they have become more appreciative of each other and the various skills they each bring to a group. Again, we deeply appreciate what your donations have done for our school and the future movers and shakers that you have helped to nurture. You have enhanced our library and have helped to further bonds and sense of belonging in my scholars. Again, thank you.”

Funded Jan 28, 2019I wish to express my sincerest gratitude for the STEM materials that your generous donations have purchased for our school. My scholars have excitedly explored STEM activities using these materials. I have observed marked improvement in their participation and creativity each time we do a STEM challenge. One of their favorite challenge is the parachute challenge. It is heart warming to watch as they compete to balance weight, force and height to have their parachute have the longest and safest drop.
I am even more excited to report that as students in the lower grades (1st and 2nd) see and hear their friends, relatives and fellow members of the school community talk about their challenges and designs, they too are excited to work hard and advance to the upper grades so that they too can participate in these more difficult challenges. This again proves that good peer leadership and example are great motivators for learning and success.
The implementation of these materials has expanded my STEM program and has sparked greater creativity and analytical thinking in my students. Working in teams have further bonded scholars and they have become more appreciative of each other and the various skills they each brings to a group. Again, we deeply appreciate what your invaluable donations have done for our school and the future creative thinkers that you have helped to nurture. You have made our library space into a MAKER SPACE.”

Extra! Extra! We Want to READ all About It!
Funded Jun 21, 2018We sincerely thank you for your generous donation of a magazine rack to hold subscriptions for our school library. Our scholars will now be able to access a wider variety of print informational resources that will enable them to widen their knowledge base.
Similar to many schools nationwide, budget shortfalls have befallen our school and as such, have directly impacted our ability to purchase much needed materials and resources. More than 48 percent of our scholars currently live in shelters and other temporary housing facilities. While they have access to books and some web-based resources, they lack access to supplemental print resources such as magazines and newspapers. Your generous contribution will allow us to display them prominently for easy access.
Upon receipt of new magazine subscriptions, scholars will begin projects on ecosystems, issues and controversies, as well as environmental awareness using informational texts. Again, our deepest gratitude for your donation to our school library. We appreciate all that you have done to make this dream come to fruition for our school community.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Livingstone
