Have Six Seats
Funded Oct 29, 2023My students are loving the new resources that your donations provided them with! During Center Time, scholars use the comfy cushions to sit in any available space in the classroom! Spaces include, the library corner, under the window, next to the closet, next to the Promethean Board, by the front door and even in the hallway! My students love the pillows! The next steps for the pillows is to use them as manipulatives! We are currently studying multiplication and division. These pillows will be used to show how the two operations are related. Three groups of two pillows equals six in all.
Thank you for donating to my classroom and for allowing my students to be more comfortable while learning!”

Ms. Lennon

Funded Sep 29, 2022I so appreciate your generous donation in support of the work that my scholars did this year. Your donation provided them with color copies of worksheets and photos that allowed them to be excited about the work that they did. Colored prints of images showing a variety of animals and historical figures were printed for a showcase of their non-fiction reports! Every guest that entered the classroom saw the vibrant writing each student created about scientists, world leaders and prominent sportspeople.
Thank you for supporting the work that my students did. You are appreciated.”

Funded Jul 17, 2022Because of your generosity, my scholars are able to work on brightly colored paper and see colorful images on their worksheets! Thank you! Colorful paper brings their writing to life! We appreciate you for supporting the hard work that my scholars do each day.
It must sound crazy to think that elementary school students don't have access to a colored printer. But, we don't. When students receive worksheets about animals, they are in black and white. When students see images of people from other countries, they are black and white images. When students look at photos of farm animals and sea creatures, they are in black and white. Your donations brought color to the classroom.
Thank you for your donations. My scholars appreciate you.”

Write Bright
Funded Jun 29, 2022My scholars have already used the new resources to complete their first writing project! Here's how it works. They choose a "seed idea" from their writing journal and write it on white paper. Then they add details about the main character on bright yellow paper. That gets glued on the first draft. The final draft goes on a colored paper of their choice!
When the bright colored paper came out of the box, my scholars said "ooooohhh". It's amazing how vibrant colors make young writers happy.
On behalf of my scholars, thank you so much for funding this project.”

Funded Feb 18, 2022As we end the school year, my scholars have begun to put the final touches to their math and literacy portfolios. They have used the 3-ring binders and sheet protectors that you provided funds for to showcase all of the hard work they did during the year. I reminded them that kind citizens like you are supporting their education by giving them the tools and supplies they need. They are in awe of the fact that they are supported by people they don't even know and feel even more proud of the work that is showcased in their portfolios.
Each portfolio will be carefully packed and hand delivered to their teacher NEXT year. He or she will then build on this year's work by continuing to add writing pieces (based on New York State standards in writing) to their Literacy Portfolio. They will add math projects to their Math Portfolio. These will then go travel with them until they go to middle school.”

Wipe It Down
Funded Dec 3, 2021Just like Last year and the year before that, classrooms were a little scary. Students and teachers wore surgical masks, sprayed Lysol on desktops and wiped down all surfaces with sanitizing wipes. My student are using wipes daily. Your donation has allowed my scholars to feel a bit more safe and a lot more secure knowing that their home away from home is clean and disinfected.
When they does saw the donation of wipes, they couldn't wait to wipe everything down! Now, this is a daily routine that they look forward to. Thanks to your donation, my scholars don't have to be afraid of germs, dirt and viruses. Thank you.”

Funded Aug 20, 2021Thank you so much for supporting my scholars and helping me make the classroom warm and inviting. The decorations and organization materials have added beauty to the classroom! Since students spend nearly seven hours in the classroom, it's important that the classroom is a clean, organized and beautiful space. It's their home away from home! Name plates, bulletin board signs and plenty of tape have kept the room looking great.
Since we are constantly wiping down desks to keep them free from germs, name plates have had to be replaced twice. Because of your donation, each desk looks brand new. We are now researching animals! Your donation of sheet protectors will be used to cover their final writing pieces and organized in a binder.
Thank you for supporting my scholars.”

Funded Jul 24, 2021So many of my scholars come from families that just don't have the money for basic supplies. Many of our families are in desperate need of food, toiletries and even rent. In the beginning of the year, I heard phrases from some of my scholars that reminded me
just how much your donation means. I heard phrases like, "my Mommy said she doesn't have any money" or "my Daddy said he can't buy anything this week". With your donations of basic school supplies, my students don't have to worry about being without the things they need.
When my students first saw the materials, they were so happy! Some of them brought a special pencil sharpener or eraser from home to put in their new pencil case. Some of them quickly decorated their new materials with stickers and others quickly wrote their name on them. They loved everything!
Our next step is to keep our supplies clean and organized. Before we go on our holiday break, I will encourage students to wash and dry their pencil case. They should also throw our pencil shavings and crayon wrappers.
Donors, thank you so much for supporting my scholars with basic school supplies. I so appreciate your donation to their educational success.”

Funded Jan 27, 2021You may be surprised to know that many students don't have a quiet, designated place in their home to complete their assignments. They don't have a place in their home to focus on their schoolwork. Many scholars don't have a place in their home to write and read. One happy moment occurred on the morning after a student received the desk in a box, she was seen smiling brightly, seated at her new desk with pencils on the left, a cup of water on the right and an open workbook front and center. Your donations have provided our students in need with a simple piece of furniture that they didn't have but really needed: a desk.
I witnessed a family walk in the school lobby in awe as they saw the big box with their child's name on it. The desk seemed like more than an extraordinary gift than a piece of kids furniture. It was a ticket to a better education. Each student who received a desk was very excited and they now use it daily.
By contributing to this project, you have not only positively added to the lives of the individual students that received a desk. You have also added positively to our school culture. Your donation has solidified the fact that the whole-child is important. Your donation reminded all of us that learning is not just about pencils and workbooks. It's also about having a positive place to learn. Thank you for encouraging us to do more to support our students not only at school but also at home.”

Ms. Lennon
We See You Smiling!
Funded Aug 22, 2020Just before our schools were given the "green light" to begin in-person instruction, I knew that my students would need masks. But, not just any masks. How was I going to see the proper pronunciation of words that I teach? How was I going to see is they are repeating after me, during instruction? And above all, how was I going to see them smiling? Your donation towards purchasing children's masks with a window, allowed all of those things to happen. My students are using the masks daily and without them, learning would be a challenge for these English Language Learners.
When my students first saw the masks, they were shocked! They didn't know that these kind of masks exists! Now, when it's time for learning, my students are able to switch from their blue masks to our learning masks.
One particular day, one of my scholars raised his hand and said, "Ms. Lennon, I need to switch my mask." After asking him why, he said, "because I want you to see me smiling". Thanks to your donations, my students are able to have a small resemblance of normalcy...seeing and showing a smile. Thank you for donating to my classroom and making my scholars smile.”

Ms. Lennon
