The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. I want my students to have the option of choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room and the materials on my list that would help accomplish this are: inflatable chairs that can be moved to any area of the room, stools that allow students to move their legs when they are antsy, balance balls for their desk so they are able to get their wiggles out while doing work and bouncy bands for student's chairs (much better alternative to fidget blocks). I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor in the past and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more! I also want to create a safe place for my students and a sense of calm for my students so that they are able to learn. Using diffusers with lavender have been proven to put people at ease, which could make the world of difference for low-income students. The rest of the materials that I need are to enhance hands-on learning (lap white-boards and pocket charts) and to simply provide my students with materials to make learning possible (paper, scissors, stapler, etc). My students matter the most to me and their education is primary. I hope to see them flourish with the support of these resources!
