Technology & Learning My Way
Funded Mar 11, 2018First of all, I would like to say thank you for the generosity. It's a wonderful feeling to have our hard work in school recognized by the generosity of others. The laptop we received has been instrumental to our continued online learning. In today's day and age, it's important to provide young minds with the opportunity to use technology to further their education. Doing so, better prepares them for the working world and higher education. In particular the kids got very excited because the laptop was different than others we have had, it was a white color. Kids are great because they get so excited about new things.
The privacy partitions have also helped in a few ways. First, it has kept a students' work private and free from wandering eyes. It also helps those that need a bit of extra focus because they can concentrate better.
Once again, thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Mendoza
This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and 6 other donors.Learning on the Go!
Funded Jan 25, 2018First and foremost, my students and I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your donations. Your generosity helped us get a new laptop and increase our class count. Having this extra laptop is helping my kids complete computer programs for school. We had a couple laptops already but having an additional one really has helped get my classroom small group rotations more efficient and effective. Now more kids are able to use the computers at one time. The computers are also helping my kids do more collaborative projects in class.
The most exciting thing to my students about the new laptop is the fact that we got a new one. Just like most people the simple fact that it is brand new and glitch free makes them very excited. However, the fact that this project was funded got them very excited.
My students and I have worked very hard all year to get the most out of education and the laptop has helped us further that education because now they can do more online learning extension activities.
Once again thank you!!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Mendoza
This classroom project was brought to life by The First Million Fund and 4 other donors.Technology Learning
Funded Jan 4, 2018I would first like to say thank you for your generous donations. Each donation got us closer to fulfilling our goal and getting our project fully funded. Once our project was funded, I told the students the good news, they were thrilled! The could not wait to get their hands on the laptops and start using them in class.
Once the laptops arrived we started to use them for various technology based educational purposes. For one thing, we used the laptops to complete individual iReady Reading and iReady Math programs. These programs are geared towards helping students master critical reading and math skills at their individual level. We also started using the laptops for review games on key science topics using the program Kahoot!, they had a blast.
It's clear to me that my students are really enjoying the laptops but what they seem to get most excited about is the ability to use the laptops to compete against their fellow classmates to review their science content. There's a lot to be said about a healthy dose of competition to boost their level of engagement and their knowledge acquisition. My students have never been so engaged!”

Rock The Vote!
Funded Oct 17, 2016Thanks to your generosity, my students and I now have a class iPad to use. We have been able to not only complete the Rock the Vote project with the use of the iPad but we have also been able to extend our learning through the use of technology. My students have been able to have hands on experiences with the iPad and work in small collaborative groups. The technology has allowed us to complete lessons on Nearpod, a presentation tool that I used with them to expose them to more academically rigorous content.
The most exciting part however, for them has been being able to actually use an iPad in class to work with their classmates on various activities. They really enjoyed being able to do election related research on it and being able to watch informational videos on the two candidates.
Even though we already completed our Rock the Vote project, we are still actively using the technology in the classroom to enhance the educational experience and better prepare the students for a global community.”

My Digital Autobiography
Funded Nov 20, 2015I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how thankful my students and I both are for your generous donation. At the beginning of the school year I explained to my students that this year we would be working with an ongoing project. I told them that they would be creating an autobiography and that they would also be illustrating it along the way. They were very excited!
Then I decided to try and create a project through Donors Choose and see if someone would sponsor my project. Luckily, you guys funded my entire project and I was able to get the camera for my class. Now instead of the students illustrating their autobiographies they would have the opportunity to take actual photographs of themselves to go along with their story. I knew this would be a hit!
Once the materials arrived, I shared the exciting news with my students. They were bursting with excitement. Since this is an ongoing project, they have not yet completed their autobiographies but I gave them a chance to start to work with the camera. In a world where "selfies" are a big thing they had a blast. They can't wait to continue working with the camera.
Thank you once again for the generosity!”

Mrs. Mendoza
