Charts Charts Everywhere
Funded Dec 2, 2010There are many stresses that a teacher encounters as she navigates her way through a school year. I have made it my mission, as a teacher, to make sure that my students are comfortable inside my classroom. This comfort includes being as stress free as possible and having the supplies they need to carry out their daily activities.
Many schools across the city have been faced with serious budget cuts. In order to preserve activities and positions, supplies have been the first thing cut. Missing in our school from almost the start of the school year has been chart paper. This causes many teachers to come up with other creative ways to keep track of the work they are doing or simply to instruct. I have found myself teaching my two classes using the overhead projector, but they are not always able to copy everything I model in a timely fashion. Due to the lack of chart paper, the students have no real reference to what we have been doing in class.
Thanks to your generous donation, this is no longer a problem for my classes. We have been excited to create charts to track the lessons we are learning but also to work on group activities. Thank you for thinking about others in a time when many struggle to care for themselves. We are eternally grateful for your generosity.”

Easier with an Easel
Funded Sep 23, 2010A classroom is often a home away from home for students. They spend a majority of their waking hours inside the four walls of a room. They are required to work hard and with purpose. As a teacher, I expect all of my students to be successful and feel it is up to me, as their teacher, to make sure that happens. I am responsible for instilling in them the knowledge they need to be lifelong learners.
There has been a huge shift in the availability of resources for our students. As teachers, we are given a small stipend with which to purchase necessary items for our classroom. This money does not stretch very far. I am often digging deep down into my pockets to make sure my students have the materials the need. I have never minded doing this, but every bit of support helps.
It is people such as yourselves, that help alleviate the financial burden that sometimes occurs for teachers. Your generous donations have afforded the children an opportunity to grow as students. Not only has your gift impacted their educational experience, it has also impacted their growth as young ladies and gentlemen. Your donations have enabled them to see the benefits of helping others and have also taught them how to be thankful for things, big and small.
My students are thoroughly enjoying the use of our easel and without the kind hearts such as yours, this would not be possible.”
With gratitude,
Ms. K
