My students have a variety of learning disabilities. Many of them are unable to read and write due to processing delays. These bright and eager students, who have so much that they want to say, are impeded by simple tasks that we take for granted. They can not access grade level material because their reading development is slow and laborious. They can not share and express their wonderful ideas in writing because spelling is such a challenging feat for them. Though we are fortunate to have Chromebook access for my students, without headphones with mics, they are unable to effectively use them in their classrooms. The funding of this project means that my students can use the speech to text feature to complete writing assignments, without being deterred by spelling. They can access grade level reading assignments by listening to downloaded text with their headphones. By funding this project, you are allowing my students to soar through the glass ceiling they have been stunted by for so long. Finally, their hard work and perseverance can be seen in the work that they are able to complete - to have a final written product sharing their brilliance.
