New Books For A New Year
Funded Aug 25, 2016The books you have donated have opened up many opportunities for our readers and learners. For our first unit on Interpreting Characters, students had an opportunity to choose from many different books with dynamic characters to help them practice these new skills. Inferring character traits, determining theme, and identifying character change became fun when students had new and enjoyable books with characters they can connect to.
When I announce it is time for independent reading, students are more than excited. Their book baggies are filled with new and exciting books that they cannot wait to open. Thank you for giving our 4th graders the opportunity to really love reading!”

Funded Dec 6, 2015Thank you so much for the generous and thoughtful donation. With these non-fiction books, students were able to expand their learning by making connections. Many of the non-fiction books were about authors of the books they were currently reading. These books gave them much excitement to read and learn about their author.
The bean bags were a tremendous hit! Students cannot wait until reading time so they can find their comfortable spot on these bean bags. It set up a comfortable reading environment which is sometimes difficult to do in a regular chair.
Your kindness is appreciated!”

Building a Community of Organized Learners!
Funded Sep 20, 2015Students are well on their way to becoming organized learners with their new seat sacks. Each day, students now have a place to store their books, folders, and even their own little personal pencil boxes. Inside these seat sacks, students also hold their independent reading books. They now know that in order for these books to remain in good condition, their seat sacks must be organized and clean. Student's love having their own personal space in the classroom and enjoyed decorating their name tag on it!”

Fourth Graders Need Help Transporting Books
Funded Aug 7, 2015These new book baggies have provided a sense of importance on reading and taking care of reading materials. Students are using their book baggies to carry around their independent reading books and reading logs to keep track of their reading. They use the baggies to transport their books from class to class and from class to home. Students were extremely excited when they found out they were able to decorate their own bags. It gave them a sense of ownership. Most students drew book covers and titles on their baggies! Thank you again for your generous donations and helping to bring reading to life!”

Keeping 4th Graders Motivated with Popular Books
Funded Jul 26, 2015With all of these new popular books, it made choosing a "just right" book much easier for these 4th graders. Students are taught to choose books that interest them. With all of the options in the library, thanks for your donations, students were left with many books to choose from. Students are more engaged and keep their eyes in their books during independent reading. They simply cannot get enough. Also thanks to your kind donations, many of my reluctant readers have chosen books that have kept their interest. Reading is more enjoyable and much more natural when students have a variety of books to choose from.”
